In Kudowa-Zdrój (Bad Kudowa), the highlights range from park walks to collections and traditional crafts and architecture. Zdrojowy Park has paths, a promenade and a pond; museums offer insights into toys from different eras and historical ways of life. This gives you a choice of different focuses when planning your visit: time outdoors, culture or history to explore.
Park paths, a pond and a viewpoint
Zdrojowy Park, regarded as the heart of Kudowa and listed in the register of monuments, has walking paths and a promenade. The promenade leads to a large pond with ornamental carp, ducks and swans. In autumn 2022, the Salt Tower complex was added to the park. The park landscape combines a walk with a striking structure; the paths, promenade and pond are useful landmarks to help you find your way.
Another named viewpoint is on Góra Parkowa, where you will find the “Altanka Miłości” (Love Arbor). If you would like to include a viewpoint among your experiences, this is a separate place to consider alongside the features of Zdrojowy Park.
Chapel and museums in Kudowa-Zdrój
You can visit the Kaplica Czaszek (Chapel of Skulls) only on a guided tour.
The Muzeum Zabawek (Toy Museum) displays more than 5,500 historical toys and objects from childhood. The collection includes items from five continents and spans from antiquity to the 1990s. Anyone interested in cultural history will find a broad range of periods and places within a single theme. The museum also offers a story-based family trail for children aged seven and over, as well as adults. This age range makes it easy to assess whether the activity is suitable when planning a visit with children.
A different perspective is offered by the Muzeum Kultury Ludowej Pogórza Sudeckiego (Museum of Folk Culture of the Sudeten Foothills) in Pstrążna, a district of Kudowa-Zdrój. Old furniture and agricultural tools from the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries have been preserved there. Historical wooden vernacular architecture from the Sudeten foothills is also on permanent display. The toy collection and open-air museum therefore focus on different aspects of everyday life: childhood and play in one, and homes and agricultural work in the other.
Traditional crafts and a cycling route
At the Szlak Ginących Zawodów (Trail of Disappearing Trades), you can watch a pottery demonstration; individual visitors and groups are welcome year-round. The trail also includes a bread house, a cottage with period furnishings, a smithy, a windmill and a mini-zoo. The demonstration puts the focus on craftsmanship, while the other features represent different areas of work and everyday life.
A proposed cycling route also runs from Kudowa-Zdrój via Czermna and Žďárky to Pstrążna. There you can visit an open-air museum about village life in the Czech-Polish border region. The route and museum visit thus combine a ride with a cultural destination; for planning, the places along the way and their connection with the border region are the main points to note.
