Architectural history in Leśna and the surrounding area
Czocha Castle is located near Marklissa. It is surrounded by water on three sides and by a dry moat on the fourth. A large cylindrical tower dating from the 13th century rises above the castle; it also has three courtyards surrounded by bastions. Inside are a large hall, a knights’ hall, a museum room and a prince’s chamber. Its architectural history encompasses both the exterior layout, with its courtyards and tower, and the castle’s range of interior spaces.
The churches in Leśna also offer two different points of reference in time. The Church of Christ the King took its present form between 1709 and 1719. The parish Church of St John the Baptist was built between 1852 and 1853 on a hill beside the cemetery.
