Culture and History

The filial Church of St. Bartholomew in Buczyna was first mentioned in 1376. In the 16th century, the church acquired its Renaissance appearance; a tower, a sacristy, and a chancel were added at that time.

The interior of the filial Church of St. Bartholomew includes a high altar, two side altars, a wooden baptismal font, and an 18th-century pulpit.

Of the former castle and park complex with manor farm in Buczyna, an entrance gate, an overgrown park, and several farm buildings have been preserved, including a former mill. In the park, an information board presents a traditional legend about the former castle and displays photographs of the castle from its heyday.

The Orthodox Church of St. Demetrius in Buczyna was originally a Protestant church. Next to it stand a free-standing bell tower and the remains of a monument to the local residents who fell in the First World War.

Buczyna lies on the Szprotawa River and on Polish national road No. 12.

Tradition

The “Noc Świętojańska,” held every June for several years, has become a local tradition in Buczyna. During the event, wreaths are set afloat on the Szprotawa River, and there are also spectacular jumps over a fire.
