Zwierzyniec combines historic buildings with links to Roztoczański National Park and two routes with different features. The residence of the Plenipotentiary of the Zamoyski Estate, Neoclassical outbuildings, and a church on a pond island offer different ways to explore the town’s history. There is also a 67-kilometer route to Florianka and an educational trail with a viewpoint. This gives you a choice when planning your trip: focus on cultural history, follow a route with named stops, or combine both themes.

Building History and Present-Day Uses

The residence of the Plenipotentiary of the Zamoyski Estate was built in 1889–1890 and is now the headquarters of Roztoczański National Park. This building brings together a clearly dated history and a present-day institutional function. If you are interested both in a place’s history and in its role today, the residence offers a concrete point of reference. Its current use is relevant to a visit; confirm current visitor access before making firm plans.

Four Neoclassical outbuildings from the 18th century now house the Jan Zamoyski School of Woodworking and Environmental Protection Complex (Zespół Szkół Drzewnych i Ochrony Środowiska im. Jana Zamoyskiego). Together with the later-built residence, they bring buildings from different centuries into view. The outbuildings combine Neoclassical architecture with their current use as a school. Check whether they can be visited if a visit to the buildings is part of your plans.

The Church of Saint John of Nepomuk offers another historical point of reference. It was built between 1741 and 1747 on one of the four islands in the pond created by Jan Sobiepan Zamoyski. Tomasz Antoni and Teresa Aniela Zamoyscy are named as its founders. The island setting and the pond are therefore part of the church’s history. Those who enjoy considering architecture alongside its historical context will find a different perspective here than at the residence or the outbuildings.

A Long Route and an Educational Trail

The 67-kilometer Obwodnica Roztoczańskiego Parku Narodowego runs from Zwierzyniec to Florianka. Its length and endpoints give you a basis for deciding how to fit the route into your plans. The description identifies a connection between two places, but does not specify a mode of transport. Before setting out, check current signage and local conditions.

The yellow-marked Piaseczna Góra educational trail runs from the Monument to Fallen Foresters via Piaseczna Góra to Zwierzyniec Old Town and offers a viewpoint. The named stops help you understand the route; the Obwodnica, by contrast, is described by its length and endpoints. The two descriptions therefore answer different planning questions, and you need not assume that the routes connect.

Exhibitions for Groups

At the Roztoczański National Park information point in Zwierzyniec, group visits can be reserved for the permanent exhibition “W krainie jodły, buka i tarpana” and the temporary exhibitions at the park’s Education and Museum Center. If you are considering a group visit, confirm the current reservation arrangements in advance. This lets you include the exhibition visit in your plans without treating it as the same kind of experience as the historic buildings or the two routes.

When choosing what to focus on, it is worth considering the town’s history and the routes separately: the church tells the story of a building on a pond island, while the residence and outbuildings are distinguished by their dates and present-day uses. The Piaseczna Góra educational trail has named stops and a viewpoint; the Obwodnica is defined by its 67 kilometers and the towns of Zwierzyniec and Florianka. This makes it possible to choose Zwierzyniec according to the themes you want to prioritize on your trip.
