The Lapidarium and the museum’s collections
The Lapidarium Rzeźby Nagrobnej is open to visitors from April 1 to November 2 and is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Keep these closing days in mind when planning your visit. A paid guided visit must be booked at least two days in advance. The price for this visit is 50 złoty.
The Muzeum Ziemi Wschowskiej preserves regional collections on archaeology, ethnography, history and art history. A particular focus is the history of the royal city of Wschowa.
Music culture is also part of the museum’s work. This includes temporary exhibitions, lectures, presentations and concerts, as well as meetings with renowned instrumentalists and soloists. If you would like to plan your visit around a concert or one of these meetings, check the relevant date.
Architecture and city fortifications
Biały Domek, also known as Domek Mleczny—translated as “Milk Pavilion”—is a notable example of modernist architecture in Wschowa. Kripplein Christi, in turn, is an Evangelical church complex dating from the early 17th century.
Lwi Mostek offers another glimpse into the area’s architectural history. It took its present form in the second half of the 19th century in the eclectic style. At its center stands a sandstone lion figure, crafted in the Rococo style and probably created toward the end of the 18th century.
The city walls of Wschowa are a valuable example of medieval fortifications. The surviving features include sections of wall, a gate tower, a moat and an embankment. In the 19th century, these fortifications were transformed into a promenade and parkland.
Wschowa in the wider Powiat Wschowski
For a broader perspective beyond the city, Powiat Wschowski is a distinct geographical area encompassing the Leszczynskie Lake District, the Leszczyńska Upland and the Głogów ice-marginal valley. A 2,894-hectare section of Przemęcki Landscape Park lies within the municipality of Wschowa.
For active trip planning across Powiat Wschowski, there is a specific starting point: the signposted Wschowa–Lgiń–Sława cycling route is 39.3 kilometres long and starts at Park Wolsztyński in Wschowa. Check the route details locally before setting off. For the wider Wschowski destination, the tourist information office also recommends the 140-minute “Królewskie Miasto Wschowa” route; you can take its duration into account when planning.
