Castle, Sanctuary and Local History
The reconstructed late Baroque castle in Kamień Śląski houses the Sanctuary of Saint Hyacinth. The town’s history also includes a former fortified structure on the grounds of Pałac Odrowążów: it belonged to the Odrowąż family, and among those who stayed there was Bolesław Krzywousty. The fortified structure and the reconstructed castle represent different historical layers of the town.
A bell tower with eight bells stands in the park at Pałac Odrowążów. A Way of the Cross runs around it, with folk-style sculptures at each station. The Church of Saint Hyacinth serves the residents of Kamień Śląski and Kamionek. Many pilgrims and tourists also visit the church, both in organized pilgrimage groups and individually. One reason is the nearby birthplace of Saint Hyacinth.
Izba Tradycji offers a different architectural detail. The single-storey, brick building has a gable roof and Silesian floral decoration. Its design and ornamentation differ markedly from those of the castle and bell tower, adding to the range of cultural features in Kamień Śląski.
Cycling and Nature Observation
The black cycling trail leaves Kamień Śląski and runs alongside the wall surrounding the castle park. You can also extend a bike ride around the village with a loop around the golf course and the Sanctuary of Saint Hyacinth. The park wall and the route linking the golf course and sanctuary are useful landmarks when planning your route.
The European ground squirrel meadow lies along the cycling route described above. You can watch the animals from an observation hut or from benches along the route. This makes it possible to combine a bike ride with a stop to observe nature; the hut and benches offer different vantage points.
A Break and Other Activities
For a break in the town centre, head to Plac Myśliwca, where visitors can rest on benches by a pond. It offers a specific place to pause between cultural attractions and activities.
Sebastianeum Silesiacum has an indoor swimming pool with two pools for swimming and exercises. There is also a water cascade for massage. Karolinka Golf Park offers golf lessons with PGA Polska coaches, including introductory courses for beginners and advanced training for players. If you plan to take a course, check the current arrangements directly with the golf park.
