Grodzisko is considered one of the oldest settlements in the Ziemia Strzelecka area; this is indicated by archaeological finds from the Neolithic period (4200–1700 BC). As early as the Early Middle Ages, a fortified settlement was located here. This is reflected in the name Grodzisko, which means “destroyed castle.”

The parish church of St. Catherine in Grodzisko is registered as a historic building under registration number 1132/66; the entry lists the years 1812 and 1924.

The present-day church dates from 1812. A sacristy and a chapel were added to its north side in 1924.

The parish church was mentioned as early as 1516; it had side altars dedicated to Saint Valentine and Saint Mary Magdalene.

In the districts of Rozmierz, Grodzisko and Kadłub, heart-shaped grain kernels with a cross are sown. This tradition was added to the national list of intangible cultural heritage in 2020.

Every year on February 14, the St. Valentine’s indulgence fair takes place in the area around Grodzisko, attracting pilgrims from neighboring villages.
