Culture

The Church of Our Lady of the Scapular in Wierzchowo is a rectangular brick building. A wooden bell tower stands at its façade. The church was completed and consecrated in 1990; its dedication took place on 18 July 1992.

In the Middle Ages, Wierzchowo belonged to the Teutonic Order. In the Wierzchowo Dworzec district, there is also a filial Church of Our Lady, Help of Christians, which belongs to the Wierzchowo parish. The Feast of Our Lady of the Scapular is associated with 16 July.

Nature

Lake MÄ…kowo is located in the vicinity of Wierzchowo and is a body of water covering almost 30 hectares. Extensive reed beds now stretch across its area.

The Kamionka River rises on the border of Człuchów Municipality near Wierzchowo and is considered suitable for kayaking trips.

The Wierzchowo Człuchowskie horse-riding trail is 0.9 km long. The Way of St. James hiking route runs mainly through fields, forests and nearby villages.

The EDK Way of St. James hiking route leads through Mąkowo, Wierzchowo, Mirogniew, Bukowo, Przytok, Dębnica and Człuchów. On the Way of St. James hiking route, there are wet sections of trail near the lakes; mud can make walking difficult.
