Discover Trzepowo: history, skiing and cycling route
Accommodation in Trzepowo
Trzepowo combines historical traces with a range of options for cultural and active holidays. Its distinctive features include an early medieval settlement site, a converted manor house and a sculptor’s workshop. There are also the ski lifts at Stacja Trzepowo, a red cycling route through the village and nearby Lake Łąkie. When planning your trip, you can weigh up whether to focus on history, cycling or winter sports.
Historical traces and culture
The first mention of Trzepowo dates back to 1294. A document named the village as an estate that Duke Mestwin II gave to the Cistercian monastery of Eldena. The interwar period is also part of the village’s history: at the time, Trzepowo lay on the border of the Free City of Danzig, and a border post was located in the village.
The remains of an early medieval settlement dating from the 13th century lie in the Wietcisa Valley near Trzepowo. The Evangelical cemetery is no longer in use and is listed in the “Monuments Register” protection category. The two sites point to different historical chapters: the settlement remains to the Middle Ages, and the cemetery to the village’s religious and cultural heritage.
Trzepowo’s sights also include a converted manor house, which is now owned by an agency of the agricultural market. Another cultural stop is Zenon Kosater’s sculptor’s workshop, featuring Kashubian sculptures. These historical and artistic themes are varied: from the former estate and border post to regional sculpture. They offer several ways to get to know Trzepowo through its history and culture.
Lake Łąkie, ski lifts and cycling route
Lake Łąkie is near Trzepowo. The ribbon lake covers 3.6 hectares and has a water quality rating of class II. This classification may be updated regularly, so check the current status if it is important for your plans. The lake is also the endpoint of the Przywidzka Czerwona Trasa Rowerowa, an approximately 20-kilometre red cycling route that passes through Trzepowo.
For winter sports, Stacja Trzepowo has two drag lifts, each 300 metres long, as well as a 100-metre practice lift for beginners. The Olbrychski Sport ski and snowboard school also operates at the station. Lesson availability may change, so check directly with the school before making plans.
Cycling and winter sports offer different experiences: the Przywidzka Czerwona Trasa Rowerowa provides an approximately 20-kilometre route that passes through Trzepowo and ends at Lake Łąkie. At Stacja Trzepowo, the focus is instead on the lifts and designated practice lift. If you are considering Trzepowo as a destination, you can base your choice on whether you are more interested in a cycling route or activities related to skiing and snowboarding. History and culture offer another distinct side of the village.
