Accommodation in Wiślina
Wiślina combines a striking testament to the town’s history with routes along the Motława. The wooden bell tower dating from 1792 and its inscriptions bring this cultural heritage site to life. On the water, a municipal kayak route passes through the town; the Mennonite Trail also runs along the river. When planning your trip, you can therefore explore historical traces and a range of routes.

A bell tower bearing legible traces of history
The wooden bell tower stands in a cemetery once associated with a Gothic church that no longer survives. The cemetery gate and bell tower are together known as “Brama do Raju”. The ensemble recalls the Olęder settlement in this area and connects the town with its history.
This history is especially tangible on the gate’s four supporting posts, which bear well-preserved inscriptions. These include a record of the foundation by the village head of Dziewięć Włók, references to the church caretakers, and the name of the builder, Jakub Jentzen, along with the date 1792. For those interested in cultural history, several details come together on this single structure: the year, the names, and references to the people associated with its construction.
The gate led to a Mennonite cemetery that is now a parish cemetery. This change is part of the historical context, as is the cemetery’s former connection with the Gothic church. “Brama do Raju” can therefore be viewed not only as a structure in its own right, but also as part of the town’s changing history.
Routes along the Motława
From the junction in Wiślina, the Mennonite Trail follows the Motława to Bystra and Lędowo in the municipality of Pruszcz Gdański, then continues into the neighbouring municipality of Cedry Wielkie. The route is described as peaceful and scenic. Its named locations and continuation beyond the municipal boundary provide clear guidance on its course.
A municipal kayak route on the Motława also passes through Wiślina. It runs through the flat, agricultural areas of Żuławy Gdańskie. Because the current is slow, the route is considered easy and can be paddled in either direction. The two routes thus offer different useful planning details: the Mennonite Trail highlights the places along the river, while the kayak route focuses on the current and direction of travel.
Further afield in the region, a recommended Motława tour runs from Gdańsk to Wróblewo. It is 15 kilometres one way, or 30 kilometres for a round trip. This distance applies to the tour between Gdańsk and Wróblewo, providing a separate reference point for planning routes in the wider area.
Sporting event and directions
The municipality lists the Wojewódzki Bieg Żuławski, held on the Wiślina–Lędowo route, as one of its regular sporting events. If you are planning your trip around the race, check the date of the event in advance.
For orientation, a route runs from Pruszcz Gdański via Rokitnica and onward to Wiślina. This route via Rokitnica offers another point of reference for planning your trip, in addition to the routes along the Motława.
