Nowa Karczma brings together a lakeside landscape, outdoor routes and cultural history. The municipality has numerous lakes with a combined area of just under 300 ha; several routes of varying lengths also run through the area. In Nowa Karczma itself, a church and a memorial chapel recall different chapters in the history of the locality. You can therefore make the landscape, the routes and the cultural sites separate highlights of your stay.

Lakes and routes in the municipality of Nowa Karczma

The municipality has numerous lakes with a total area of just under 300 ha. It is also home to six areas within the European Natura 2000 ecological network. These details give an impression of the landscape’s diversity without reducing it to a single lake or a particular trail. Route lengths are another useful point of reference when planning: they range from a short connection to longer routes.

Compare hiking and cycling routes by length

The combined hiking and cycling route Nowa Karczma–Nowy Barkoczyn is 5 km long. It connects the municipality’s administrative and service centre with Nowy Barkoczyn on Lake Barkocińskie. Another option is the “Szlak rowerowy im. Józefa Wybickiego” cycling route, which runs through the municipality of Nowa Karczma. Its section from Lake Łąkie to Będomin is 12 km long. The municipality’s green Stolemowe Nordic walking route, which is 13.7 km long, is another option.

The three route lengths provide different points of reference: 5 km, 12 km and 13.7 km. The shortest of the routes listed is the connection to Nowy Barkoczyn; the other two figures refer to longer routes. If you want to plan your days around the length of a route, this comparison can help you choose. These routes should not be understood as a single circuit: each figure refers to the route or section named.

Church, memorial chapel and museum

The “Kościół p.w. św. Antoniego” church in Nowa Karczma became a parish church in July 1984. As a landmark when driving from Kościerzyna to Nowa Karczma, the church is on the right-hand side of the road. In the centre of Nowa Karczma, a memorial chapel commemorates residents of the municipality who were murdered in 1939. The church and chapel thus represent two distinct historical reference points in the locality.

Nearby in Będomin, the National Anthem Museum presents the permanent exhibition “The History of Mazurek Dąbrowski” as well as the exhibition “Józef Wybicki and His Times”. Both exhibitions run through 31 December 2026. These two themes offer a cultural highlight alongside the municipality’s routes and landscape. If you would like to include a museum visit in your travel plans, you can add this place as a separate destination.

Timetable as a seasonal planning consideration

On weekdays during the summer holidays, the municipal timetable lists a circular route from Nowa Karczma via Śledziowa Huta, Grabowska Huta and Sztofrowa Huta, returning to Nowa Karczma. This service is limited to weekdays and the summer holidays. If you would like to take this connection into account when planning, check the timetable before travelling. This lets you consider the seasonal route separately from your other plans, without confusing it with the route lengths described as being available year-round.
