Discover Lubliniec

Lubliniec combines historic sites with marked cycling routes and leisure activities by the water. This gives you a choice of different ways to plan your trip: a walk through the town centre, a cycling tour, or activities in nature. Seasonal offerings are also part of the picture: Wodny Plac Zabaw is open seven days a week from 1 June to 31 August.

Churches, town history and remembrance

The historic centre developed from the medieval town founded under German law. Its square market, Plac Konrada Mańki, and streets lined with numerous 19th-century houses give the town centre its historic character. Today's St Nicholas Church tells the story of several building and renovation phases: a Gothic building was later followed by a Baroque one that incorporated older walls.

The wooden St Anne's Church on ul. Św. Anny in the centre was built in 1653 and reconstructed between 1996 and 2004. It underwent extensive renovation; its interior is Baroque. Those interested in Edith Stein's family history can visit the Muzeum Pro Memoria Edith Stein in Lubliniec. It is housed in a tenement building that once belonged to her grandparents, Adelajda and Salomon Courant. In Steblów, the parish church dedicated to Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross—Edith Stein—was elevated to the status of a sanctuary in December 2021.

Another way to explore the town's history is through the Jewish cemetery on ul. 11 Listopada. It bears witness to the two-hundred-year presence of the Jewish population in this Silesian town. Together with the churches, market and museum, it offers different perspectives on Lubliniec, without limiting your discoveries to a single theme.

Cycling routes and outdoor activities

Two marked routes, each with different points of reference, are suitable for a cycling tour. The blue Turystyczna cycling route No. 852 runs from the Lipie district of Lubliniec through the town centre to Lubliniec-Wymyślacz. The yellow Turystyczna cycling route No. 439, by contrast, starts at the market square and heads towards Steblów; at first, it runs north along al. Solidarności. When choosing a route, you can therefore decide whether you would like to ride through the town centre or set off from the market towards Steblów.

Nordic Walking Route No. 4 runs through the forests south of Lubliniec, passing the Łopian forest ranger's lodge. Rest areas and information boards with guidance and exercises for Nordic walking are among the facilities along the route. In Kokotek, a district of Lubliniec, you can go hiking, cycling and horse riding in summer; in winter, cross-country skiing is possible. The many ponds in Kokotek are well suited to spending time by the water and enjoying water sports.

Water and options for different interests

Boats, pedal boats and kayaks are available to tourists at the Silesiana and Ustronie Leśne leisure centres. If you would like to include water activities in your itinerary, you can consider these options alongside the ponds in Kokotek. For families, the renovated sensory trail offers a different way to get moving: it adjoins a labyrinth and lets visitors walk barefoot over different surfaces made of bark, pine cones and stones.

The sports and recreation centre in Lubliniec also has a free, publicly accessible boules court. It can be used by individuals and organised groups alike. Wodny Plac Zabaw adds a seasonal option to these activities: it is open seven days a week from 1 June to 31 August. When planning your travel dates, you can take this period into account; the boules court and the seasonal water playground also differ in the kind of leisure activity they offer.
