Podzamcze brings together the ruins of Ogrodzieniec Castle, archaeological finds on Góra Birów, religious cultural heritage and the AdrenaLinaPark rope park. This means different interests sit side by side: those interested in historic sites and their place in time will find different points of interest here than those considering a high ropes park. Castle, hill and route in the Podzamcze area

The ruins of Ogrodzieniec Castle in Podzamcze date from the 14th century. On Góra Birów, there are archaeological finds from a settlement of the Lusatian culture. The two sites offer different historical perspectives: the castle is a structure from the 14th century, while the finds point to a settlement of the Lusatian culture.

Another way to put the various sites into context is the “Ogrodzieniec Strongholds Route”. In the Podzamcze area, it runs from Jura Square via Gród on Góra Birów, a barrow cemetery, bunkers and fortifications from the Second World War, and a rock city, to Ogrodzieniec Castle. The route thus links several different stops in sequence; it offers a different perspective on the area from a focus on the castle alone.

Religious heritage at the sanctuary

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Rocks is in Podzamcze, on the road from Ogrodzieniec to Pilica, about two kilometres from Ogrodzieniec. Devotion to Our Lady of the Rocks at her sanctuary began in 1818. This date gives the site a religious connection that reaches back to the 19th century.

On 30 May 2004, five Stations of the Rosary were installed on the sanctuary grounds. They depict important events in the life of Jesus Christ. In this way, the long-standing devotion and a specific, later-dated feature on the grounds are linked in time. For choosing a cultural focus, the sanctuary thus offers a different perspective from the castle and the route.

Courses at AdrenaLinaPark

The AdrenaLinaPark rope park in Podzamcze has three courses. The green course has 10 obstacles, including two ziplines; the red course has 14 obstacles, including one zipline; the black course has 23 obstacles, including three ziplines. The figures allow for a direct comparison: the red course has four more obstacles than the green one, but one fewer zipline. The black course has both the most obstacles and the most ziplines.

The figures given may change as the park develops. Alongside its historical and religious themes, the rope park gives Podzamcze another, active focus to consider when choosing your travel interests.
