Dębica appeals to travelers who want to consider both historical themes and a range of outdoor activities, as well as a seasonal indoor option, when choosing a destination. Experiences range from a permanent exhibition on the history of the garrison to marked trails with different lengths and types of routes. For planning, it is worth considering these options according to their particular features: the buildings represent different periods, while the routes vary in terrain, distance, and stated walking time, among other things.

Explore history through buildings from different periods

The Regional Museum in Dębica features a permanent exhibition on the history of the Dębica garrison. It focuses in particular on the Austro-Hungarian period and the Battle of Gorlice. The visit offers an insight into a specific chapter of the region’s military history—a different way to experience the city than through its buildings and trails.

The Raczyński family burial chapel is located in the Old Cemetery. Built in 1880, it is a Neo-Gothic structure made of red brick. Its construction date, architectural style, and materials give the chapel its own distinctive historical and architectural character. St. Jadwiga’s Parish Church offers another point of reference: the Gothic church was built in the 16th century and expanded in 1962. The two buildings therefore represent different building histories: an exact year is recorded for the chapel, while the church is dated to a century, with the later year of its expansion also known.

The former synagogue is also part of Dębica’s history. It was built in the 18th century, burned down in 1939, and converted into a department store after the war. Together with the permanent exhibition, the burial chapel, and the parish church, it helps provide a varied picture of Dębica’s past.

Compare marked trails by distance and walking time

For active days, there are trails to choose from with markedly different route profiles. The blue-marked lowland trail from Dębica to Góra Śmierci is 16 kilometers long and starts at Dębica railway station. It can also be cycled. The green-marked mountain trail from Dębica to Jaworze Dolne also starts at the railway station, is 15 kilometers long, and is designated as a mountain trail. The stated walking time is about 4.5 hours; the route can also be ridden by mountain bike. When comparing the two routes, the terrain, trail-marking color, and approximate walking time for the mountain trail are useful points of reference.

A shorter loop is the marked “Zielona” forest and cross-country running trail. It is 6.5 kilometers long and runs from Ulica 23 Sierpnia in Dębica through Las Wolica (Łysa Góra) and back to the starting point. The walking time is about two hours. Its distance and stated walking time distinguish this loop from the longer routes. The “Las Wolica” walking trail also lies in the southern part of Dębica, offering views of the city. Check current conditions on the route before setting out.

A seasonal option for winter

Another activity in Dębica is a covered ice rink measuring 60 × 26 meters, with 850 seats. Its facilities include skate rental and skating aids for beginners. The rink operates seasonally; check its current opening hours before your visit. This allows you to consider it when planning without treating it as a year-round offering.

The trails described offer different distances and, in some cases, stated walking times, while the museum and buildings focus on history. Which aspects of Dębica shape your trip depends on whether you are especially interested in history, architecture, or outdoor activities.
