Kolbuszowa lies on the Kolbuszowa Plateau, by the small River Nil and amid the forests of the former Sandomierz Wilderness. Nature, cycling and wooden architecture define different aspects of this destination: you can include protected landscapes, signposted routes and historic buildings in your plans. The railway is also useful for getting your bearings. State-important railway line No. 71, on the Ocice–Rzeszów route, runs through the Kolbuszowa municipality and town, connecting Tarnobrzeg with Rzeszów. The Zabłocie Nature Reserve covers 536.95 hectares and protects the habitats of rare bird species as well as natural plant communities of the former Sandomierz Wilderness. At the same time, Kolbuszowa’s location amid forests, on the plateau and by the Nil describes a landscape where forest, upland and river come together. Cycling routes for different ability levels

Four signposted cycling routes in the municipality vary in difficulty, giving you a choice to suit your ability. The blue cycling route also has a stated distance and journey time: it is 32.2 kilometres long, with an estimated journey time of 3–4 hours. This gives you a concrete time frame for planning the day and including a bike ride as a separate activity. Check the signage locally, as route details can change.

Wooden architecture and regional building traditions

The Open-Air Museum of Folk Culture in Kolbuszowa covers almost 30 hectares and features more than 80 examples of wooden architecture. The collection includes houses and farm buildings, as well as craft and industrial buildings and public buildings. This range draws attention to more than just domestic life: work, production and public functions are also represented among the building types on display. Churches, cemeteries and historic places

Religious and commemorative heritage also shapes the character of Kolbuszowa. In the All Saints Parish Church, the side altars date from the first half of the 18th century and the bell from the 17th century. The crypts of the Lubomirski and Sanguszko families lie in the cellars and are not open to visitors. The Jewish cemetery covers 1.6 hectares and preserves around 50 stone gravestones. Their inscriptions are in Polish, German and Hebrew. The three languages give the site a tangible historical dimension and distinguish it from the church buildings.

In Werynia, the Tyszkiewicz Palace was built between 1900 and 1905. It stands in a 25-hectare manor park with numerous ponds. Both historic architecture and a park landscape can therefore feature in your travel plans.

The Environmental Education Centre in Świerczów has a diorama featuring animals and plants, as well as a fully equipped classroom for meetings and lessons with foresters. The nature display and educational space offer a different focus from the cycling routes, open-air museum and historic buildings.
