Experience nature: Folusz and Magura National Park

The Stanisław Zając Park for Recreation and Ecological Education, named after a Senator of the Republic of Poland, is located in Folusz on the left bank of the Kłopotnica stream. Covering just under 2.5 hectares, it directly borders Magura National Park and is part of its buffer zone. The park is also home to the designated “Kłopotnica Valley” ecological education trail. A marked circular trail is about 2.5 kilometers long and takes approximately 40 minutes. It is particularly suitable for families with young children, offering a shorter hiking option alongside the area’s longer trails.

Magura National Park is located in Jasielski County and forms a comprehensive nature conservation system. From the summit of Walik Hill, you can enjoy views of the Ciężkowice Foothills. These two nature experiences can be considered separately when planning your trip: the park in Folusz combines a short circular trail with an ecological education trail, while Walik offers its own distinctive landscape views.

Hiking and cycling routes with different time requirements

For a longer hike, the green trail runs from Nowy Żmigród through Mrukowa to Folusz. It takes about four and a half hours to walk, and offers wide panoramas of the Magura Wątkowska and the area around the Wisłok Valley along the way. The yellow hiking trail runs from Mrukowa through Kotań to Krempna and takes about five hours to walk. Cyclists also have a clearly defined route: the red-marked “At the Meeting Point of Cultures” cycling trail is 52 kilometers long. It runs from Jasło through Dębowiec, Wola Dębowiecka, Załęże, Osiek Jasielski, Nowy Żmigród, Brzezowa, the Walik Hills, Jaworze, Dusznica, Świątkowa Wielka, Świątkowa Mała, Rozstajne and Grab, ending in Ożenna at the national border. The route connects several towns and landscapes in a single continuous itinerary. If you prefer to travel on foot, the two hiking trails and their different approximate walking times offer a useful comparison for planning.

Wooden churches and regional collections

The wooden churches in the area each highlight a different period of history. Osiek Jasielski is home to a wooden church dating from the 14th century. Its features include polychrome decoration from 1840 and a stone baptismal font from the 16th century. Pielgrzymka has a 19th-century wooden Orthodox church in the Byzantine style; its historic baptismal font dates from 1163. The wooden parish church of St. John the Baptist in Załęże was built in 1760.

In Jasło, the Regional Museum offers a look at folk art and crafts: its extensive collections are connected to Jasło and its surroundings. Together, the museum and churches offer different ways to explore cultural history, from craft collections to distinctive buildings. Jasło, vineyards and practical information

Along the Jasielski Wine Trail, visitors tour local vineyards and taste wines from Jasło. The trail includes 16 vineyards in the area around Jasło; the participating vineyards may change over time. Jasło is a subregional transport hub at the intersection of road and rail connections. The main road connections include National Roads 28, from Zator to Medyka, and 73, from Wiśniówka to Jasło. Important rail connections run from Rzeszów to Jasło and from Stróże to Zagórz. The Jan Szafrański Education and Museum Center of Magura National Park is located in Krempna. From November 1 to April 30, it is open Tuesday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. From May 1 to October 31, it is open Tuesday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, it is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Check the opening hours again before your visit.
