Przemyśl offers several distinct ways to explore the city’s history and culture. The Muzeum Dzwonów i Fajek focuses on bell casting and pipe-making, while the Podziemna Trasa Turystyczna leads through cellars and underground passages. Three named walking trails and Fort XVI “Zniesienie” complement these themes. This gives you a choice of different focal points when planning your trip: crafts, a route beneath the city, or the place of a fort within the Przemyśl Fortress.

Bell-Making and Pipe-Making in the Old Town

The Muzeum Dzwonów i Fajek is housed in the late Baroque clock tower, Wieża Zegarowa, in the Old Town. It presents historical evidence of bell casting and pipe-making—crafts for which Przemyśl was and remains known both in Poland and abroad. The location and subject complement one another: the clock tower places the museum in the Old Town, while the exhibition also turns attention to two trades associated with Przemyśl. Visitors interested in cultural history will find not only an architectural landmark here, but also the history of the city’s craft traditions.

Three Named Walking Trails

The walking trails also have clearly defined names. Przemyśl’s trail system includes the Śródmiejski Szlak Spacerowy im. Księcia Przemysława – Założyciela Miasta, the Zasański Szlak Spacerowy im. Orląt Przemyskich and the Kruhelski Szlak Spacerowy im. bł. Jana Balickiego. The Kruhelski also runs partly through Śródmieście. When choosing between the three routes, you can use their full names as a guide; for the Kruhelski, its explicitly stated section through Śródmieście is one of its specific distinguishing features.

Underground Route and Renaissance Presentation

The Podziemna Trasa Turystyczna runs through several cellars beneath Przemyśl’s town hall. From there, it follows a historic sewer and a newly built underground passage to the cellars at Rynek 9, home of the Muzeum Historii Miasta Przemyśla. The route thus passes through several cellar areas to a specific museum destination; it also distinguishes between the historic sewer and the newly built passage. Its presentation depicts Renaissance Przemyśl in an interactive setting. The route is also accessible to people with visual or hearing impairments; ten stations feature a total of 16 tactile graphics and exhibits.

Fort XVI “Zniesienie” and the Hill

Fort XVI “Zniesienie” is part of the inner ring of the Przemyśl Fortress. Zniesienie is also a hill overlooking Przemyśl. This provides two specific details for placing the fortress in context: the fort’s position in the inner ring and the hill above the city. It offers a different way to explore the city’s history than the museum’s craft exhibits or the presentation underground—and a point of interest for travelers especially interested in fortresses.
