Brzeżanka combines a varied valley landscape with routes that wind through the surrounding area in different ways. A stream has carved a deep valley here, with several tributaries. There are also viewpoints on ridges and the open landscape of the Strzyżów-Dynów Foothills. You can plan your stay around specific landscape features and outdoor experiences.

Valleys and Viewpoints in the Landscape Around Brzeżanka

From the hamlet of Podlas, the view stretches across the Strzyżów-Dynów Foothills: west to Góra Chełm (528 m) and east to Kopalina (464 m), also known as Góra Niebylecka. You can also see the Wisłok Valley between Cieszyna and Nowa Wieś. Another viewpoint is on the open border ridge along the boundary with Wysoka Strzyżowska, above the hamlet of Graniczna; from there, the view overlooks the Kopytko Valley.

The observation tower at the campsite offers another perspective. From there, you can see the Stobnica Valley with the village of Godowa, as well as Rzeszów; the city is visible above the Góra Niebylecka massif. Taller trees affect the view. The different locations offer distinct viewpoints for planning your trip: Podlas opens up views across the foothills and the Wisłok Valley, the border ridge overlooks the Kopytko Valley, and the tower offers views across the Stobnica Valley.

Cycling Route and Hiking Trails with Different Routes

The cycling route shown on the map “Tras rowerowych zielonych okolic Strzyżowa” passes through Brzeżanka. The circular route runs from Strzyżów through Brzeżanka, Bonarówka, Żyznów and Godowa, then back to Strzyżów. This makes it easy to identify the route as a loop passing through several named places.

Hiking trails also explore the surrounding area, though they follow their own routes. The black hiking trail runs from Czudec via Babica, Połomia and Godowa to the ridge of Brzeżanka, where it meets the green hiking trail. A green-marked PTTK hiking trail runs from Strzyżów to Krosno and passes a point in Brzeżanka. These details help distinguish the routes: the cycling route is a loop through several places, while each of the hiking trails described has its own starting and ending points.

Campsite and Seasonal Stay

Brzeżanka has a campsite that is considered a tourist attraction in spring and autumn. It includes a small wooden structure, an observation tower and an information board about the flora and fauna of the local forests. The tower connects a visit there with views across the Stobnica Valley and of Rzeszów. When planning your trip, you can use these seasons as a guide to the campsite’s appeal to visitors.

The developed viewpoint in Brzeżanka has been a popular spot for mushroom pickers for several years. This use adds a seasonal nature connection to the landscape experience. When choosing accommodation, a specific distinction comes to the fore: Brzeżanka offers both named hiking and cycling routes and prominent viewpoints, as well as a connection to the natural forest environment.

Cultural Heritage and Local Tradition

Brzeżanka’s cultural heritage includes roadside crosses and shrines. A local tradition also tells of volunteers who are said to have gathered in the forest beneath a beech tree to take part in national uprisings. According to the story, the tree was therefore given the name “werbowanym.” This tradition gives the landscape a cultural connection.

For a broader regional perspective, Strzyżów and the Czarnorzecko-Strzyżowski Landscape Park are also worth exploring. The park is a protected area with diverse plant and animal life; more than 900 species of vascular plants are recorded for the area. This figure describes the landscape park as a whole, not Brzeżanka alone.

Planning Your Trip

Brzeżanka is about 3 km from Strzyżów and away from the main transport routes. Together with the clearly named routes, viewpoints and landscape features, this gives you a concrete picture to help you find a suitable destination. If you would like to include hiking, cycling, valley views and local traditions in your trip to Poland, these places and routes can shape your plans for Brzeżanka.
