Lidzbark between the lake, the Wel and history

The yellow circular trail to “Kurojad” is about 15 km long, starts and ends in Lidzbark, and runs through the valley of the Wel. Here, the river has the character of a mountain river. Compared with the blue circular trail, the yellow route is considerably longer; it also shifts the landscape from the lakeshore to the river valley. Weltrack is an 8,480 m-long, winding and undulating one-way singletrack. Its technical features include turns, berms, rollers, rocks and roots. Unlike the two circular trails, it is described as a one-way singletrack, so the route type is another distinguishing feature in addition to its length. Historical connections in Lidzbark

The 14th-century Gothic castle tower in Lidzbark has been repurposed as the town and municipal library. This new use adds a later function to its Gothic origins. St. Adalbert’s Church (Kościół pw. Św. Wojciecha) dates from 1752; Stare Miasto Street is dated to 1320–1331. The tower and street therefore point to the 14th century, while the church’s date represents a later period. These different dates make Lidzbark’s architectural history tangible through specific places and buildings.
