Giże between the Lake District and local history

Giże is located in the Pojezierze Ełckie, the Ełk Lake District. The lakes Dworackie, Dudeckie and Zajdy lie north of the village. There are also brick buildings from two construction periods in the 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as Evangelical cemeteries dating from the 19th century. The “Nad jeziorem Krzywe” route runs from Olecko via Rosochackie, Giże, Orzechówko, Giże, Dworackie, Jurkowo, Krzywe, Dudki, Zajdy and Kukowo, and returns to Olecko. Giże appears twice along the way: first after Rosochackie and later again after Orzechówko. The route’s name refers to Krzywe, but the route itself covers several other places and leads back to Olecko. This means it can be understood in terms of its full sequence, not just its name. Brick buildings and historic cemeteries

Examples of brick buildings in Giże include house No. 18, dating from the second half of the 19th century. Houses Nos. 14, 16 and 17 date from the early 20th century.
