Three cycling routes with different profiles
The yellow-marked Route 37 runs via Olsztyn and Butryny to Nowa Kaletka and Zgniłocha. It is 24 kilometers long, rated easy, and runs over flat terrain. The blue-marked Route 38 runs via Olsztyn, Stary Olsztyn, Linowo, Trękus, Kaborno, Nowa Wieś, and Przykop to Butryny. At 27 kilometers, it is three kilometers longer; it is rated moderate and the terrain is hilly. The two routes therefore differ in more than just length: Route 37 is rated “easy” and is flat, while Route 38 is “moderate” and hilly.
The green-marked Route 39 is an 11-kilometer circular route from Butryny via Nowa Kaletka and back to Butryny. It is moderate, hilly, and signposted. Of the three routes, it is the shortest; however, its difficulty rating and terrain differ from those of Route 37. When comparing the options, you can therefore consider distance, stated difficulty, and terrain together, rather than using distance alone as your measure.
The routes also help with orientation: Route 39 is explicitly a loop starting and ending in Butryny. Route 38 passes through several named places before reaching Butryny, while Route 37 runs via Olsztyn and Butryny and continues to Nowa Kaletka and Zgniłocha. Two of the routes mention Nowa Kaletka, but their courses differ: Route 37 includes the village as part of a longer route, while Route 39 goes there from Butryny and back again. The route numbers and colors—37 in yellow, 38 in blue, and 39 in green—provide additional ways to tell them apart.
Active recreation at BARTBO amusement park
BARTBO amusement park in Butryny offers a different kind of active outing.
