Gothic buildings and historic houses

The Gothic Collegiate Church of the Most Holy Saviour and All Saints was built between 1376 and 1389. Another architectural landmark is Baszta Bociania: the tower has a circular footprint and five storeys. As you explore Dobre Miasto, you can take in two distinct architectural forms—the church, with its precisely dated construction period, and the tower, with its striking shape.

Miejski Skansen is located in a row of houses near Baszta Bociania and showcases former craft workshops. Its historic townhouses were built of brick at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries, in an arrangement typical of towns in Warmia. Their construction and layout give the Skansen its own architectural focus alongside the church and tower.

The collection also has a different historical context from the houses: the original furniture, tools and equipment date from the early 20th century and the interwar period. If you are interested in history, you can distinguish the period when the townhouses were built from that of the later everyday objects, rather than assigning everything to a single era. The Skansen is also a venue for workshops, meetings and events. If a particular event is important to your visit, check the schedule in advance.

Nature and places to visit in the region

The trails, Lake Limajno and canoe trips on the Ɓyna offer opportunities for excursions in the wider area around Dobre Miasto.

The village of GƂotowo lies in the Gmina Dobre Miasto. Its Baroque church is a pilgrimage site. Set within the landscape, Kalwaria WarmiƄska is known as “MaƂa Jerozolima” (“Little Jerusalem”). This adds another cultural focus in the municipality to the architectural sights in the town. A lookout tower for nature observation is also among the facilities operated by Nadleƛnictwo Wichrowo in the Gmina Dobre Miasto.
