The Biesal railway station complex was built between 1871 and 1873 in connection with the construction of the so-called Toruń–Insterburg main line. The listed ensemble includes the station building, a water tower with a pumping station and storage facility, a well, and a freight forwarding building. It also includes residential buildings with outbuildings, an access road, and landscaped green areas near the station building, the water tower, and the railway crossing on the road to Podlejki. The complex was entered in the heritage register in 2012.
Specific architectural details of the station building include brickwork on a stone plinth and original window and door fittings that have been preserved. This means the complex can be viewed not only in terms of its function as a railway station, but also through its surviving fabric. Access to the railway station complex is restricted: the interiors of the buildings can be visited by arrangement with their respective owners and users. The ground floor of the station building, which is open to the public, is an exception. Confirm access arrangements before your visit, as they may change.
Chapel and local history
The former Protestant chapel is also part of the area's history. It was built in 1924 on land donated by estate owner Hugo Striewski; after the Second World War, it became the property of the Catholic Church. A simple soldiers' grave from 1945 is located in the adjoining cemetery. Biesal also has several surviving single-family houses from the interwar period, known as “kochówki” or “zydlung.” The railway station, chapel, and houses offer different historical perspectives: railway construction, the chapel's subsequent change of ownership, and interwar housing styles.

The Black Cycling Route starts in Biesal, runs via Tomaryny, Śródka, Guzowy Piec, Salminek, and Jadaminy, and returns to Biesal; its listed length is 15.6 kilometres. The “Śladami leśnych osad” route starts at the bus stop in Biesal; variants of 17 or 19 kilometres are listed. This route includes paved forest roads that are sandy in places; at the beginning, it follows an asphalt road through the village. The estimated cycling time at a leisurely pace is two to two and a half hours. Another cycling route, “Ścieżkami mazurskiej puszczy,” completes its loop in Biesal. Train travel and an excursion route
Biesal lies on the Toruń–Olsztyn railway line. Travelling by train is mentioned as one way to reach the starting point of the Black Cycling Route; check current train services before your journey. A cultural and historical guide from 2021 also describes Route 5 as a 23-kilometre car or cycling excursion from Gietrzwałd via Tomaryny, Biesal, and Guzowy Młyn, returning to Gietrzwałd. Unlike the Black Cycling Route, which starts and ends in Biesal, Biesal is a waypoint on this circular excursion. The tours therefore differ in whether you start and finish the loop directly in the village or pass through Biesal on an excursion between the starting point and the return point.
