Timber-framed Church, Cemetery and Rectory

The Evangelical church in Jerutki, built in 1715, is one of the few surviving examples of a timber-framed construction method that was once widespread in the region. The church is surrounded by a historic cemetery dating from the second half of the 19th century. Crosses and gravestones have been preserved there; together, the church and cemetery offer an impression of local history.

The historic rectory stands next to the church. It dates from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries and is also associated with events from two later years: in 1802, it hosted the Prussian King Frederick William and his wife, Louise. In 1812, two Napoleonic generals were stationed there. The two dates mark distinct episodes in the history of the building. Art Project and Cycling Routes

In 2013, the art village project “Jerutki – Wieś Sztuki” was created in Jerutki through a joint initiative by local residents and the Kreolia-Kraina Kreatywności foundation, which operates there. The project adds another cultural aspect to the history of the village’s historic sites. Specific routes are also available to help you plan your cycling. The blue-marked Lanca cycling route passes through Jerutki and is 24.4 km long. The 95 km Jurand cycling route also includes the village. If you would rather follow a marked route than visit a single destination, consider the Lanca route. The Jurand route offers a longer option that includes Jerutki.

Near Jerutki, along the Jurand cycling route, are the remains of concrete fortifications from the First World War, known as the Hindenburg Line. The Bagna Krawieńskie wetlands are located along the Lanca route. The Uroczysko Bagna Karwińskie is also described as a breeding ground for many bird species. These details appeal to different interests: historic fortification remains on the one hand, and named natural areas and birdlife on the other.
