Świeszyno combines local history with several route connections. The area around the Neo-Gothic Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is particularly illustrative: a monument stands next to the church, and old trees line a popular walking route. Other points of interest include the former cemetery, now a lapidarium, and a modern sports and leisure facility. This allows you to explore the area through its historical themes and various route connections.

Church, Monument, and Walking Route

The church is a 19th-century Neo-Gothic building and was consecrated on September 25, 1945. The construction period and consecration mark different historical stages: the 19th century dates the architecture, while the consecration date is part of the building’s history. Directly beside the church, a monument commemorates the village residents who fell in the First World War. Today, the monument forms the pedestal for a statue of the Virgin Mary. The memorial to the fallen and the monument’s present-day function thus stand side by side. Old trees near the church line a popular walking route. They add a route connection to the view of the building and memorial. If you are interested in local architecture and history, the church area offers several specific points of interest.

Routes in Different Directions

The routes can also be distinguished by the places they connect. The green Szlak Spichlerzy passes through Świeszyno between Jarzyce and Mierzym. One section of the Szlak Spichlerzy runs from Świeszyno via Mierzym to Manowo. The black Tychowski Trakt passes through Świeszyno from Jarzyce in the direction of Włoki. The place names indicate different directions: Mierzym and Manowo are mentioned for the Szlak Spichlerzy, while the Tychowski Trakt runs from Jarzyce towards Włoki. Before setting out, check the current route, as conditions along the paths may change.

The walking route by the old trees is a different point of interest from the routes described above: it passes by the church area, while the other place names provide orientation for different directions. If you are planning a walk or a tour with named destinations, these route connections can help you decide what to focus on during your exploration.

Lapidarium and Sports Facility

Another historical point of interest is the former cemetery in Świeszyno, which is now a lapidarium. A lapidarium is a collection of stone artefacts. The transition from former cemetery to present-day lapidarium adds another way of engaging with the past to the memorial. Local history can thus be read not only through the church: the monument and the lapidarium represent different historical points of reference.

The Hala widowiskowo-sportowa adds a contemporary note: it is a modern sports and leisure facility that opened in 2023. In terms of chronology, the range of features extends from the 19th-century church to a more recent facility. If you are considering a visit, please check in advance what uses are currently possible, as operational details may change.
