Discover Police
Accommodation in Police
Discover Police through different traces of its history and routes by the water. In the town, a lapidarium, a Gothic chapel and a Neo-Gothic church represent different chapters in its history. By the Łarpia, you’ll also find a landscaped waterfront area and a marina used by sailing associations and clubs. The Szlak Policki starts in Police and leads to Bartoszewo; two circular routes also start and end in Police.
Cultural history in several places
The Polickie Lapidarium is located in Park Staromiejski in the southern part of the Old Town. It sits on a small hill on the site of a former cemetery. It preserves and displays fragments of tombstones from former German cemeteries that once stood within the area of today’s Police municipality. The lapidarium was established in 1998 at the initiative of the local authorities and historian Jan Matura. Its collection includes around 125 tombstone elements, including stelae with well-preserved inscriptions and stylised tree trunks. The provenance, inscriptions and forms give the site a different historical focus from the churches in the centre.
A Gothic chapel stands at Plac Bolesława Chrobrego, in the centre of the market square. It is the only surviving remnant of the 13th-century Church of Najświętszej Marii Panny, which was demolished towards the end of the 19th century. Another distinctive building is the 19th-century Neo-Gothic Kościół Mariacki. Its tower is over 60 metres high and can be seen from a distance in Police’s skyline. Together, these sites span architectural history from the Middle Ages to the tombstone fragments in the lapidarium.

Check current route conditions before setting out.
Police for your travel planning
The sights and routes offer different points of interest, without prescribing a single set itinerary: the lapidarium preserves tombstone fragments with historical links to today’s municipality, while the chapel and Kościół Mariacki each tell their own architectural story. The waterfront area and routes complement these cultural sites with opportunities to enjoy the water and get active. When looking for a hotel in Police, it may therefore help to first decide which of these interests will shape your plans most.
