When choosing a destination in Lipiany, two questions go hand in hand: Are you drawn to the lakeside setting, or would you also like to discover historic traces in the town? Lipiany lies on a peninsula surrounded by Lake Wądół. It is also home to half-timbered houses, gates to the old town and stone remains of the walls of an earlier church. The landscape and the town’s history therefore offer two distinct perspectives to consider when planning your stay.

Finding your way around Lake Wądół

The peninsula setting is the most distinctive geographical reference point. A walking and cycling path runs along Lake Wądół in Lipiany. If walking or cycling is part of your travel plans, you can use this path as a specific point of reference; check its current condition in advance. The location and the path answer different planning questions: the first describes the town’s relationship to the lake, while the second identifies an activity there. This can help you decide whether the waterside setting alone matters to your choice of destination or whether you would also like to include a route in your plans.

Building history across several periods

The town’s architecture also reflects several periods. Stone wall remains of the Fara, the predecessor church dating from the 13th century, have been preserved in the chancel of the parish church. Numerous half-timbered houses date from the 18th century and the first half of the 19th century. These features differ both in form and in date. If you are interested in architecture, you can view the medieval wall remains and the later half-timbered buildings as distinct traces rather than assigning them to a single period.

Gates to the old town

Two gates lead into the old town, which is surrounded by former defensive walls: the Pyrzycka Gate in the southwest and the Myśliborska Gate in the northeast. The directional details help distinguish the two entrances when exploring the historic district. At the same time, the gates show that the old town is not just about individual buildings, but also about the layout of the historic quarter. The names and compass directions therefore offer more specific guidance than a general description of the area as a historic place.

Getting your bearings and places to visit

The town beach and a marina are located on Lipowa Street. If you plan to visit either, check the current situation before setting out. The Tourist Information Centre in Lipiany provides visitors with guidebooks and themed maps to help them find their way around the area. If needed, check in advance how the service is currently organised. This means there are resources for familiarising yourself with the area, as well as individual places to visit.

When making your decision, it is useful to distinguish between different scales: the peninsula and lake define the location of the town as a whole, while the path and gates provide more specific points of reference for different interests. The information centre offers additional guidance with guidebooks and maps of the surrounding area.
