The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Sławno was founded between 1326 and 1364 by Duchess Zofia, the wife of Barnim IV; during its construction, patronage was held by the Knights Hospitaller.
Sławno is home to the Gothic Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, which was formerly dedicated to the Virgin Mary and Saint John the Baptist; it is described as the largest building in the town.
On 7 March 1945, the church was destroyed and rebuilt by the Franciscan Order by the end of the 1950s; it is in use today.
Sławno’s historic town centre includes a Gothic church from the 14th century, a Neo-Baroque town hall from the beginning of the 20th century, fragments of the fortifications and two gates from the 15th century.
