In Staniewice, half-timbered architecture, church history and the Wieprza come together as distinct travel interests. The village has 19 half-timbered houses; most of the half-timbered buildings have been preserved in the western part of the village. St Michael the Archangel Church and a landing stage with a recreation area for the kayaking route offer further points of interest. When planning your trip, you can give different weight to the history of the buildings and the village, as well as to walking, cycling and river activities.

Half-timbered Architecture and St Michael's Church

St Michael the Archangel Church dates from 1770 and is dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel. It is a half-timbered building. Half-timbering is a construction method in which a timber frame forms the wall structure; at the church, this building style is combined with several architectural details.

The Gothic tower dates from the time of the first church in the 15th century. Later details include Baroque wrought-iron handles on the side doors and an old lock bearing the inscription “Ernest Hartcke und Johann Hartcke, RĂŒgenwalde” and the year 1771. The dates refer to different things: 1770 dates the church, the lock bears the year 1771, and the tower dates from the time of the earlier building.

Half-timbering also characterises the village buildings: Staniewice has 19 half-timbered houses, most of them in the western part of the village. The church brings together the building style, tower and door ornamentation, while the houses show the broader architectural context. This lets you compare an individual church building with the village's wider stock of half-timbered buildings.

Staniewice also lies on a historic transport route between DarƂowo (RĂŒgenwalde) and SƂupsk (Stolp). This is on a different scale from the church: here, the focus is on the regional connection, while the church tells the story of the village's architecture.

The Moszczeniczka stream flows north of the village and joins the Wieprza in the vicinity of Staniewice. This adds two distinct landscape features: the stream north of the village and its confluence near the settlement.

The green hiking trail from Ustka to SƂawno passes through Staniewice. From TyƄ, a yellow route follows a stretch along the Wieprza to Staniewice. For cyclists, the yellow cycle route in the Postomino municipality is another point of reference: it covers 17.6 kilometres there; this distance refers to the municipality, not Staniewice alone.
