Routes between the city and the forest

The 7-kilometer city walking route connects 42 sights and notable places. It starts and ends in front of Szczecin Main Railway Station, providing a clear starting and finishing point for the loop. The Golden Route takes a different course: it starts at the Pomeranian Dukes’ Castle and leads through city parks and woodland to the heart of the forest. Another route, “Szczecin – Harbor City on the Oder,” starts near the Tax Administration Chamber and can be reached by public transport at the Celna stop. Check current transport and access information before setting out.

The viewpoints each offer something different, too. Wały Chrobrego is 500 meters long and 19 meters above the level of the Oder’s banks; from there, you can look out over the river and harbor. These figures give the site a distinctive sense of scale, while the view puts the water and harbor center stage.

Parks, a lake and outdoor activities

You can walk and cycle in Jasne Błonia. Kasprowicz Park is the largest park in Szczecin. Farther out, to the northwest, lies Głębokie Forest Park: it covers about 350 hectares and includes Lake Głębokie. A path around the lake is suitable for walking and cycling. This gives you a choice of different landscapes, from a park to a larger woodland area with a lake.

If you’d like to include a cycling route in your plans, the suggested 16-kilometer “Lake Głębokie – Oder” route is another option. Check the condition of the paths and the signposting before setting out. For a more historical walk, a route through the oldest part of the Central Cemetery is available. Museums, theaters and architecture

Pomeranian and Baltic themes are a particular focus at the National Museum in Szczecin. The museum cares for more than 150,000 objects spanning art, archaeology, maritime history, ethnography and numismatics. These collection areas offer different ways to explore the culture and history of the region, without limiting a visit to just one subject.

The Museum of Technology and Communication is housed in a historic tram depot dating from 1912 and is one of Poland’s largest technology museums. Its displays include trams, buses, cars, motorcycles, bicycles and other technical objects. The Maritime Science Center on Szczecin’s Łasztownia has a different focus: its permanent exhibition features interactive science and technology exhibits.

The Renaissance Pomeranian Dukes’ Castle stands on a hill near the Oder. It houses galleries, a cinema and a theater, and hosts cultural and educational events. The new building of the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic is considered a contemporary architectural icon. Tours last about 60 minutes and include the foyer, the chamber and symphony halls, the fourth-floor gallery and the gift shop. They are offered on selected Fridays; check the schedule in advance. Opera na Zamku presents operas, operettas, ballet, musicals, concerts, outdoor events, performances for children and guided tours.

Enjoy the water

Fabryka Wody combines a water recreation area with an educational center focused on water, which is connected to a laboratory. The complex has 21 pools with a total water surface area of more than 2,400 square meters. Its sauna area includes 15 themed rooms. These figures may change if the facility is renovated. The complex therefore offers both water-based activities and a dedicated educational focus on water.
