The Manor House and Park of the Manor Estate

Wargowo has an eclectic-style manor house in which Baroque elements predominate. Eclecticism refers to a design that draws on elements from different styles; here, Baroque elements shape the overall impression described. The manor house is listed as an immovable monument. The park belonging to the manor estate is also listed as an immovable monument.

However, the two parts of the estate need to be considered differently when planning a visit: the park is privately owned by the descendants of Teodor Żółtowski and is not open to visitors. It therefore cannot be planned as a public destination for a walk. The park’s monument listing does not change this access restriction.

Linden Avenue and Orientation

A linden avenue connects Wargowo with the railway station. The trees have trunk circumferences of up to 440 centimetres. The avenue is therefore not only a link between the town and the railway station, but also a distinctive landscape feature.

The Cultural Centre and Its History

The cultural centre in Wargowo is housed in a former care facility built by Count Teodor Żółtowski in 1905. In 2001/02, its original architectural appearance was restored. On 25 September 2003, the building was ceremonially opened as a cultural centre. These dates mark different stages in its history: its construction, the later restoration of its appearance and its opening as a cultural centre.

Part of an entrance clock has been preserved above the entrance. A commemorative plaque on one of the former Ochronka buildings also remembers Count Teodor Żółtowski as the building’s benefactor. The plaque bears the dates 1905–2005.

Educational Trail and Other Destinations

In Wargowo, the historical educational trail includes the cultural centre as stop 23. The trail comprises a total of 33 information boards across the entire municipality of Oborniki. They point out places of interest in Oborniki and the surrounding area. The number 33 therefore refers to the whole municipality, not just Wargowo. For planning purposes, you can distinguish the trail’s specific connection to the town from its municipality-wide scope: in Wargowo, the cultural centre is identified as a stop, while the other boards are spread across the wider municipality.
