Zbąszyń can be explored through two specific highlights: the folk culture of the Kozła region and activities on the water. This combination is worth considering when planning your trip if you want to associate a place with both a cultural theme and opportunities to spend time by the water. Seasonal activities should be considered separately: swimming and the water tram are limited to the warmer months.

Folk Culture and Sacred Art

Zbąszyń is the center of folk culture in the Kozła region. Young Koźlarze, or players of the Kozioł bagpipe, are trained at the Państwowa Szkoła Muzyczna. This is the only music school in Poland that teaches students to play folk instruments. This gives the tradition a concrete connection to musical education in the town; it is more than just a name for the region. For travelers interested in Polish folk music, this combination of regional identity and instruction is a distinct cultural highlight.

A monument to a Koźlarz in the market square commemorates the tradition of the Kozła region. Alongside musical training, it provides a public memorial that makes this cultural connection visible in the townscape. The music school and monument offer different points of connection: one represents the passing on of musical knowledge, the other commemorates the tradition.

The Church of the Assumption of Mary also adds to this picture. It has a rich late-Baroque stucco interior dating from the late 18th century. This feature broadens the cultural perspective beyond folk music to include sacred interior design with historical significance. You can therefore explore Zbąszyń’s cultural highlights through both regional musical traditions and a specific example of church art.

Water Activities and Seasonal Planning

Different bodies of water and locations are suited to different activities. Jezioro Błędno and the Obra are suitable for fishing. A route around Jezioro Zbąszyńskie is suitable for cycling and running. You can choose according to whether you are interested in fishing or in walking or cycling; these options are not simply different forms of the same water experience.

The bathing facility at the Łazienki town beach operates during the summer holidays, from late June through August. Lifeguards are on duty daily from 10 am to 6 pm. If supervised swimming is important to your plans, use these hours as a guide and check the current seasonal information before your trip.

A water tram also operates on Jezioro Zbąszyńskie during the summer season. This differs from swimming at the town beach: here, the focus is on a trip across the lake, while the beach offers swimming with lifeguard coverage during set daily hours. If you would like to include the water tram in your plans, confirm current service information locally. During a summer stay, you can therefore consider a seasonal boat ride and a visit to the beach during clearly defined hours as two different ways to enjoy the water.
