Historic traces in Ryglice
The former manor granary dates from 1756 and is considered the oldest building of its kind in the region. The Church of Saint Catherine also reflects a long building history: it was built between 1928 and 1940 under the direction of Father Jakub Wyrwa, to a design by architect Jan Sas-Zubrzycki and under the supervision of construction manager Franciszek Boratyński. The church also houses a stone Renaissance baptismal font dating from 1554. The construction period and the baptismal font belong to different periods, giving your visit a tangible historical connection.
Other memorial sites offer different perspectives. The statue of Saint Florian dates from 1830; since 1910, it has been a monument to the victory at Grunwald, as recorded by an inscription on its pedestal. The Old Cemetery was established in the mid-19th century. The cemetery chapel of Saint Stephen is the burial place of former owners of Ryglice: Count Stefan Leśniowski, his daughter Stefania Szczepańska and Count Zaremba-Cielecki, the last owner of the Ryglice estates. Together, these places lead from architectural history and monuments to personal traces of the past.
Palace and park complex: a clearly laid-out site
The palace and park complex lies in the northern part of Ryglice; the history of the palace dates back to the 17th century. The park’s different features help you picture how the grounds are arranged: in front of the palace, an oval, tree-lined drive curves past a small-leaved lime tree protected as a natural monument. Two ponds lie south of the palace. To the west are the remains of a former orchard and an avenue that once separated the palace from the farm buildings. The tree-lined avenue, bodies of water and historic garden remains each have a distinct relationship to the palace.
