Milówka lies among the first elevations of the Carpathian Foothills. Hills and more than 100 hectares of forest define the area; it is also home to protected natural areas and traces of history. This gives you a clear choice when planning your trip: would you prefer to focus on landscapes and plant life, or are you especially interested in the area’s traditions and monuments? You can explore both themes in Milówka without having to combine them into a single excursion destination.

Hills, forests, and protected nature

The Panieńska Góra nature reserve protects natural forest communities and habitats of protected orchid species. It also includes the cadastral area of Milówka. The area is also part of the Pogórze Wiśnickie protected area. These natural features give Milówka a distinct landscape character, even though they refer to different protected areas.

Protected natural features include a submontane form of Carpathian beech forest, as well as common ivy, aspen, mezereon, asarabacca, lily of the valley, and common polypody. At the boundary between Milówka and Sukmanie stands “Horacy,” a pedunculate oak listed in the register as a natural monument. The landscape thus showcases both forest communities and plants, as well as a single protected tree. If nature is a priority when choosing your destination, these different features can help guide your decision.

Routes and destinations in the landscape

A tourist trail runs alongside the Filarówka vineyard and leads from Panieńska Góra to Wolnica. There are also tourist trails and paths in the forests around Milówka, where MTB competitions are held.

The rolling landscape is a useful first indication when choosing the area; the destinations and natural features mentioned above provide more specific themes to help you refine your search. If you like to combine different interests when planning, you can consider the natural features alongside the historic sites.

Legends and traces of history

A local legend about a knight who fell in battle is associated with Biała Górka. A Biały Krzyż (White Cross) was erected on the hill in 1886. The legend and the cross are two different stories associated with Biała Górka: one belongs to local tradition, while the other is a dated historical detail.

The remains of the medieval castle of Trzewlin are also located in the Panieńska Góra nature reserve. They were entered in the monuments register in 2004. In Milówka, you can therefore encounter both surviving traces of medieval history and a more recent landmark dating to 1886. If you are mainly looking for cultural points of interest on your trip, you can include these places in your personal selection alongside the protected forests and plant life.
