Accommodation in Pleśna
Pleśna combines short cycling routes in the village with landscape and cultural destinations in the surrounding municipality. When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing between the two: the “BATYLOWA” route starts at Pleśna Market, goes via Pleśna-Batylowa, and returns to the market; it is 1.5 kilometres long. The “GONDÓWKA” route starts at Pleśna Cemetery and runs via Pleśna-Gondówka to Pleśna-Równie; it is four kilometres long.

Cycling and views in Pleśna
With “GONDÓWKA”, the start and finish are not the only landmarks to help you find your way: the route passes through varied hilly terrain and runs mostly along paved roads. At its highest point, there is a viewpoint overlooking Pleśna. When planning, you can therefore take into account both the stated route length and its course and viewpoint. The shorter “BATYLOWA” offers a separate way to connect the market with Pleśna-Batylowa.
The municipality of Pleśna also offers more ways to discover nature and the landscape. A local hiking trail marked with blue and yellow dots leads to Diabli Kamień; its starting point is the “Chata pod Wałem” agritourism farm. In Dąbrówka Szczepanowska, there is a 16-metre-high wooden observation tower with five levels and viewing terraces. At 523 metres, Wał is the municipality’s highest elevation and one of the peaks of the Pogórze Rożnowskie.
Landscape and history in the municipality
On Gródek Hill in Lichwin, Austrian military cemetery No. 185 lies at an elevation of 436 metres. Well-preserved artillery craters and unfilled trenches are intended to give visitors an impression of the battlefield’s layout and the intensity of the fighting for the hill. From Gródek, you can also see the landscape of the Pogórze Ciężkowickie and peaks of the Beskidy Niskie and Sądeckie. Here, the landscape and the memory of the fighting are closely connected to the same place.
Another important place of remembrance is military cemetery No. 171 in Łowczówek, one of the largest cemeteries of the Polish Legions. Patriotic commemorations are held there every year on the first Sunday before 11 November. They mark anniversaries of the restoration of Polish independence and the Battle of Łowczówek, fought from 22 to 25 December 1914. If you plan to attend, check the specific dates and programme, as both may vary. Austrian military cemetery No. 192, dating from the First World War and designed by Gustav Rossmann, is also located in Lubinka.
Further insights into history can be found at the Centrum Pamięci Narodowej in Lichwin, which commemorates victims of the First and Second World Wars, and at the palace in Janowice, built in the 19th century in the English Gothic Revival style. The Lichwin quarry is of interest from a natural history perspective: fossils dated to approximately 66 million years ago were discovered during the extraction of raw materials. These include petrified tree trunks whose origin has not been definitively identified.
