Leźnica Wielka offers two distinct ways to experience a trip to Poland: the Church of St. James the Apostle, with its architectural history and furnishings, and the western section of the Blue Cycling Route “W Centrum Polski.” The church highlights timber construction, later extensions, and Baroque altars; the cycling route connects the town with a series of other localities. Fishing competitions at the reservoir, held on specific dates, have their own explicitly past-time context.

Church of St. James: Architectural History and Altars

The church is a timber structure on a masonry foundation and was built at the beginning of the 18th century. It was renovated and extended in 1882, when a masonry porch was added at the front, along with a masonry sacristy. Its architectural history therefore includes both the early timber structure and later masonry additions. The church is listed in the register of monuments.

The Baroque high altar is adorned with sculptures of St. Adalbert and St. Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr, dating from the late 17th century. The side altars are also Baroque. The left side altar contains an 18th-century Rococo crucifix and sculptures of the Virgin Mary and St. John the Apostle. The right side altar contains an 18th-century painting of St. Anthony. These dates bring several periods into relation: the high altar sculptures predate the church, while the crucifix and the painting of St. Anthony belong to the 18th century.

The Western Section of the Blue Cycling Route

The western section of the Blue Cycling Route “W Centrum Polski” is associated with Leźnica Wielka as its starting point. It runs through Krzepocin II, Mniszki, Janków, Zduny, Podłęże, Parski, Łyków, Rogów, Wola Świniecka, Głogowiec, Świnice Warckie, Gusin, Grodzisko, Podgórze, Zbylczyce, Leszno, Byszew, Grabów, Besiekiery, Ostrówek, Aleksandrówek, Stara Sobótka, Odechów, Zagróbki, Drzykozy, Sławoszew, and Mazew; it then continues through Kutno County.

The church and the cycling route differ in scale: the church brings architectural and art history together in one named building, while the western cycling route places Leźnica Wielka within a sequence of other places. For trip planning, a local cultural and historical highlight sits alongside a route that passes through multiple localities.

Dated Fishing Competitions at the Reservoir

An open spinning competition for the Aquas Chairperson’s Cup was announced for 17 November 2024 at the reservoir in Leźnica Wielka. For 5 October 2025, OKS PZW Sieradz invited participants to a team competition at the reservoir in Leźnica for the “Puchar V-ce Prezesa ds. Sportu Zarządu Okręgu PZW Sieradz 2025.” The two dated events represent different forms of competition: open spinning in November and a team competition in October. Together with the church and cycling route, they give the town a range of historical and recreational associations.
