Minerals and agates in the town hall

The town hall houses the exhibition “Bogactwo przyrodnicze i geologiczne Ziemi Lwóweckiej.” It showcases minerals and offers an interactive experience through screens displaying photos, maps, and descriptions. Animal sounds add an audible dimension to its nature-themed exhibits. Children can take part in a special activity: searching for Lwówek agates in the sand. The Lwóweckie Lato Agatowe

The annual Lwóweckie Lato Agatowe includes exhibitions of collectibles and jewelry in the Renaissance town hall. There is also a family festival with a stage program and two parades: one for treasure hunters and one for motorcyclists. A market with 200 stalls offers, among other things, regional products and handicrafts. The program therefore ranges from exhibition pieces to a lively market. Szwajcaria Lwówecka: sandstone and trails on the hill

Szwajcaria Lwówecka lies on the outskirts of the town, in the Bóbr Valley. Its sandstone formation has cliffs up to 30 meters high and sits at about 255 meters above sea level. It forms a natural gateway to the Dolina Bobru Landscape Park. The formation has a nature trail and a hiking path leading to the top of the hill. This offers two different starting points for an excursion: geological features and a trail climbing to the summit.

Fortifications in the townscape

The surviving fortifications also give the town a distinctive historical character: Lwówek Śląski still has several dozen square bastions, as well as two defensive towers and bastions. A section of the defensive walls runs from a stone bridge over the town moat, past two towers, toward the gate tower known as Lubańska. This sequence of bridge, moat, towers, and gate tower provides a clear way to identify the described parts of the town’s fortifications.

Hiking and cycling routes

Three marked hiking trails pass through the town in different directions: the green trail toward Gryfów Śląski and Bolesławiec, the blue trail to Lubomierz and Grodziec, and the yellow trail to Wleń and Niwnice. The black hiking trail to Podskale Castle also starts in Lwówek Śląski. Szwajcaria Lwówecka, meanwhile, has its own hiking trail leading to the top of the hill. These details help distinguish between a trail with a named destination, routes passing through the town, and the climb up the hill.

Several cycling routes also pass through Lwówek Śląski: ER-4 (Dresden–Wrocław), ER-6 (“Dolina Bobru,” Žacleŕ–Bolesławiec), and ER-10 (“Směda–Kwisa–Bóbr,” Lwówek Śląski–Frydlant).
