Złotokłos: Holiday Resort History and Green Trails
Accommodation in Złotokłos
Złotokłos combines the history of a planned holiday settlement with a specific starting point for hikes: the main green hiking trail through the Chojnów Forests begins here. For your planning, it is also worth looking at the wider context. Destinations and trails in the broader Piaseczyński travel destination complement the local attractions without being conflated with Złotokłos.
A holiday resort with its own history
The development of the holiday resort can be traced through two stages. In 1924, Jan Orsetti began developing the Letnisko Złotokłos holiday settlement, covering more than 105 hectares. In 1925, a further 79 hectares were designated as Letnisko Złotokłos A. The plots in this section were each 3,600 square metres in size. These details give an idea of how the area was planned and divided at the time.
The Church of Our Lady of Grace is also part of the town’s history. It was built in its present stone form between 1935 and 1937. The building has a single nave and three altars. Nearby is also a First World War soldiers’ cemetery: its official location is within the Sołectwo Runów, in the Runów Forest; at the same time, it borders Złotokłos. For this reason, residents often associate the cemetery with Złotokłos. This distinction helps locate the memorial site geographically.
Hiking from Złotokłos and in the wider region
The main green hiking trail through the Chojnów Forests starts in Złotokłos, passes through Szczaki and other places, and continues to Konstancin-Jeziorna; it is 34 kilometres long in total. Its full length is therefore an important factor when planning. Check the trail’s current markings before setting out. A picnic with numerous attractions is held annually in the Sołectwo Złotokłos. If you would like to include it in your travel plans, check the date in advance.
The broader Piaseczyński travel destination has other described routes with varying lengths and courses. The yellow-marked Szlak Południkowy is 28 kilometres long and runs from Piaseczno railway station via Zalesie Dolne, Górki Szymona, Zimne Doły, Zalesie Górne, the Łoś Nature Reserve and Nowy Prażmów to Prażmów. The 10-kilometre Chojnowski szlak zabytków przyrody passes through the Chojnów, Pilawski Grąd and Uroczysko Stephana nature reserves. The route descriptions provide specific differences for comparison; they do not make these trails sections of the hiking trail starting in Złotokłos.
Chojnów Landscape Park has seven marked hiking trails and a network of educational trails for pedestrians and cyclists. A clear visitor rule applies to the park’s eleven nature reserves: they may only be visited via existing paths and marked hiking trails. If you plan a route through a protected area, follow this requirement.
Nature and culture in Piaseczyński
Nature watching is also one of the activities available in the wider Piaseczyński area. At the Żabieniec pond complex, you can spot, among other species, goosanders, black-necked grebes, red-necked grebes, little grebes, teals, bearded tits, penduline tits and black storks. Another landscape feature is Jezioro Czerskie: this former oxbow of the Vistula is fully protected as a natural monument and lies east of Czersk Castle, at the foot of the site.
The medieval Gothic castle in Czersk was built by Duke Janusz the Elder around the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries on the site of an earlier fortification. In Konstancin-Jeziorna, Park Zdrojowy lies in the centre of the spa district; its main avenue connects Piłsudskiego Street with the brine graduation tower. The park has three playgrounds for children and young people, a volleyball court and outdoor fitness equipment. These destinations are part of the broader Piaseczyński travel destination and offer different attractions from the holiday resort history and hiking trail in Złotokłos.
When choosing your destination, you can therefore distinguish between what interests you locally and what interests you in the wider Piaseczyński area: in Złotokłos, the focus is on the historical development of the holiday settlement and the start of the 34-kilometre trail.
