Lewinko lies between Pobłocie and Lewino, not far from Lake Jezioro Lewinko. The surrounding area can be explored through three specific themes: the lake landscape, a walking and cycling route towards Lewino, and archaeological traces there. This takes you from the body of water, along paths through hilly terrain, to regional history.

Jezioro Lewinko and the Bolszewka

Jezioro Lewinko is one of the largest lakes in the municipality of Linia. The lake has an area of 51.5 hectares and is up to 12 metres deep. It is a through-flow lake; the Bolszewka also rises at the lake. Area and depth describe different dimensions: 51.5 hectares refers to the water’s surface, while up to 12 metres is the maximum depth at its deepest point. The fact that it is a through-flow lake and the source of a river adds hydrological context to these measurements. For travellers who consider lakes and scenery when choosing a destination in Poland, this offers a specific point of reference: the lake is near Lewinko and provides a natural feature in its immediate surroundings.

The walking and cycling route to Lewino

The municipal walking and cycling network includes the Jezioro Lewinko–Lewino “cmentarzysko kurhanowe” route. It starts at the lake; first it follows a paved road, then a section across fields leads through meadows and hilly terrain. The name refers to the burial mound cemetery in Lewino. The contrast with the lake is useful: while the lake is a single natural feature in the area, the route describes a journey through the landscape to a historic destination. For travellers who do not want to spend all their time at the lake, the route offers a distinct connection to the landscape and history.

Archaeology and local history

In nearby Lewino, an archaeological site with burial mounds dating from the 11th century lies at the edge of the forest. The burial mound cemetery dates from the 10th to the 12th century and comprises 16 earth mounds with oval or rectangular ground plans. The dating across several centuries and the exact number of mounds complement one another: the time span establishes the historical context, while the ground plans give the site a specific form. A house at ul. Leśna 4 in Lewinko dates from the 1920s to the 1930s. Thus, two historical periods can be found side by side in the surrounding area: the burial mound cemetery and a much more recent house.

A report dated 15 April 2025 announced that Rujawc had been installed in Lewinko on the “Poczuj Kaszubskiego Ducha” trail. The report described Rujawc as the guardian spirit of pilgrims and hikers. This adds another trail-related feature in Lewinko alongside the archaeological destination, with its own distinctive description.
