Nature and Landscape Around Kłobuck

The landscape of Kłobuck Municipality is shaped by the Biała and Czarna Oksza rivers, as well as by moraine hills and limestone elevations. There are eight legally protected areas in total, including five nature reserves and two ecological sites. Dębowa Góra Nature Reserve covers 5.45 hectares and lies on a hill that reaches up to 330 metres above sea level. The area also includes an observation tower.

Pedunculate oaks and spruces grow in Dębowa Góra. Protected plant and animal species found there include mezereon, periwinkle, lily of the valley, sand lizard, slow worm and European adder. Nature enthusiasts will therefore find specific features here that differ from the town’s historical attractions. The 67.5-kilometre blue Nature Reserves Trail passes through the Zamczysko and Dębowa Góra reserves; Dębowa Góra lies within the town limits.

Zakrzew Reservoir is another destination in the municipality. This artificial body of water on the Biała Oksza covers ten hectares and is used for recreation in summer. When planning your day, you can consider these landscape attractions according to their individual routes, without combining the different paths into a single route.

Cycling Routes and Walking Trails

Kłobuck has a cycling network focused on nature and forests, with two routes: one is 12.7 kilometres long and the other 4.5 kilometres. The 12.7-kilometre route runs from a protected mezereon site in the Pierzchno forest district, via Zamczysko Reserve, to Zakrzew Reservoir. The 4.5-kilometre route starts at Dębowa Góra Nature Reserve and also leads to the reservoir. The stated distances make it easy to distinguish between the two cycling options when planning.

Another option is the easy, marked Kłobuck–Przystajń cycling route, which starts in Kłobuck. For walking routes, the Green Kłobuck Trail provides a useful guide: it starts at St Martin’s Church and runs from Kłobuck via Mokrą and Zawady, along the Liswarta, to Wąsosz. The Szlak Opatówki starts at Zakrzew Reservoir and ends at the municipal office in Zawady. Their different starting and ending points offer different options for planning your routes; no distance is given for these trails.

Architectural History and Local Culture

St Martin’s Church in Kłobuck was built in 1144, commissioned by Piotr Dunin Włostowic of Skrzynno. Today, it features Gothic styling with Baroque elements. Five pointed-arch Gothic portals have survived to this day in the Church of St Martin and St Margaret. Kłobuck’s historic urban layout dates from the 12th–13th and 14th centuries, offering a distinct way to explore the town’s history alongside its natural attractions.

Another historic building is the palace in Kłobuck-Zagórze. It was built between 1795 and 1800 in the Neo-Gothic style, has an L-shaped floor plan and a centrally located polygonal tower. The municipality is also home to the brick manor house in Kamyk, built by the Kołaczkowski family in 1840. The buildings’ different forms and dates of construction offer several themes for a culturally focused stay.

The Miejski Ośrodek Kultury in Kłobuck has been operating continuously since 1972. Customs preserved in the municipality include drowning the Marzanna effigy, decorating the Gaik on Gaik Sunday, and visits by carol singers to homes during the Christmas season. The municipal harvest festival in Kłobuck includes processions and competitions featuring harvest wreaths made from agricultural produce. Kłobuck mixed bread was added in 2010 to the Silesian Voivodeship’s list of traditional products in the baked goods and confectionery category.
