Miedźno: Hotels and Accommodations

Miedźno is located in Miedźno Gmina, Kłobuck County, in the Silesian Voivodeship. The parish dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria in Miedźno was founded in 1425. The present-day Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria was built between 1872 and 1877 on the site of a burned-down wooden church.

Culture

The Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria in Miedźno is a landmark at 2 Ułańska Street, 42-120 Miedźno. The cemetery chapel in Miedźno was built around 1840 by the Miączyński family. The voivode Miączyński and his family are buried in its crypt. During renovation work, the church’s polychromes, created in the late 19th century, were discovered and restored by Professor Jerzy Nowosielski.

The church has a 19th-century Neo-Gothic high altar with a Baroque painting of Saint Catherine of Alexandria from the first half of the 18th century. Its historic furnishings also include a monstrance from 1620 and a tower clock. Nearby in Mokra stands the wooden Church of Saints Simon and Jude, built in 1708, with a shingled roof and a small Baroque bell turret.

Around 1900, Miedźno had a chapel dedicated to Saint John; the original chapel was destroyed in 1939 and replaced with a new building in 1945. Also preserved is a historic linear rural settlement structure, known as a „rzÄ™dówka“, extending from the cemetery to the intersection with the road to Borowa. Miedźno’s cultural heritage includes a mill from 1952–1953, considered a preserved example of combined wooden and solid construction.

History

A mass grave of insurgents is located in the cemetery in Miedźno. The historic cemetery also contains a symbolic tomb commemorating people murdered during the occupation, as well as a granite plaque bearing the names of 135 murdered residents of Miedźno, Mokra, Kołaczkowice, Wapienniki and Izbiska.

Miedźno is home to the Museum of Przeworsk Culture and the Memorial Chamber of the Battle of Mokra. In Mokra, the Museum of Przeworsk Culture and the Memorial Chamber of the Battle of Mokra offer museum lessons entitled „Å»ywe oblicza historii“ for school students and organized groups. The cremation burial ground near Mokra is located in a forest beside a road and is accessible year-round.

Nature and Leisure

The Folga na Zakolu cycling trail is a leisure route connecting six municipalities, including Miedźno. At the Ostrowy nad Okszą Reservoir, there is a leisure area with covered barbecue facilities, benches and tables, a beach volleyball court, a covered stage, a water sports equipment storage facility and sanitary facilities. The area also includes a wooden playground.

The Oksza Valley above and below Ostrowy is surrounded by pine forests. The Liswarta River is associated with opportunities for fishing and mushroom picking.
