Broczyno brings together architectural history spanning several centuries and a cycle route that passes through the village. Its main landmarks are a rotunda and a bell tower; the historic palace stands by Lake Broczyno. A manor house at the edge of the village and a park by the palace add to its varied architectural heritage. When planning your trip, you can consider whether you mainly want to explore the architecture or also include Broczyno when planning a cycling tour.

Rotunda, Bell Tower and Manor House

The rotunda in the village centre was built in the early 1980s to a design by J. Kirszak. Right beside it stands a bell tower with a bell dating from 1595. It comes from the former half-timbered church. The two structures therefore point to markedly different periods: the rotunda was built in the late 20th century, while the bell has survived from Broczyno’s earlier church history.

At the edge of the village stands a manor house built between 1925 and 1928 in the Modernist style. Today, it houses a primary school. Its construction date and style mark another period alongside the rotunda and the older bell. Architecture enthusiasts will find that Broczyno is home not just to a single historic building, but to structures with clearly distinct dates and forms.

Palace by the Lake and Historic Park

The historic palace is situated by Lake Broczyno, about 100 metres from the Czaplinek–Wałcz road. It was built in the second half of the 19th century in a variety of architectural styles. On the lakeside, the building has an octagonal, two-storey brick tower with a cupola. These specific details give you some pointers on what to look for when examining the exterior, without reducing the palace to a single architectural style.

The palace is set within a historic park laid out in the English style in the first half of the 19th century. It covers an area of 2.3 hectares. The park therefore dates from an earlier period than the palace, which was built in the second half of the century. Together, the park and building bring different elements of the village’s history into view; details about their style, area and construction dates help distinguish their periods and design.

Broczyno on the Cycle Route

The black “Lobeliowe Jeziora” cycle route passes through Broczyno. A municipal plan from September 2022 describes it as a 33.3-kilometre circular route that starts and ends in Czaplinek. Broczyno is at kilometre 24.5 of the route. This gives you both the total distance and the village’s position on the circuit when planning your route.

Lake Broczyno in the Plan

A municipal plan from September 2022 described a site by Lake Broczyno as suitable for development into a bathing area. At the time, it had a floating jetty and a playground.

When looking for a holiday apartment or other accommodation, you can decide which focus better suits your plans: the rotunda, bell, manor house and palace offer opportunities to explore the area’s cultural history, while the circular route adds a specific cycle trail to these local sights.
