Stare Kaleńsko can be explored through two specific highlights: the woodland location on Lake Kaleńsko and the cycling routes that run through the village or the surrounding area. The Ośrodek Sportu i Rekreacji “Stare Kaleńsko” is located by the lake. Routes starting in Złocieniec, Czaplinek and Żelisławie also offer different starting points for rides. This lets you plan for swimming, cycling or a combination of the two.

Stay overnight and swim at Lake Kaleńsko

The Ośrodek Sportu i Rekreacji “Stare Kaleńsko” is located in the woods by Lake Kaleńsko. The main building has 80 to 110 overnight places, with a further 120 places in holiday cottages. As capacities may change, it is best to confirm the details with the operator before booking. The centre is open seasonally from April to October; outside this season, it also operates for organised groups.

Facilities for guests include a supervised bathing area, mini golf and a sauna. Guests can also rent water sports equipment and touring bikes. Sports courts, a fitness room, billiards and an airgun range round out the offer. These facilities are available to the centre’s guests; check with the operator to see what is currently on offer.

For the 2026 bathing season, there is a bathing area on the grounds of the OSiR at Lake Kaleńskie. This information applies to that season. If you are planning your stay primarily around swimming, you can take this period into account.

Cycling routes through Stare Kaleńsko

A 2019 description lists the red “Drawa” circular cycling route as 60.7 km long. It starts and ends in Złocieniec and passes through Bobrowo, Kaleńsko Górne, Nowe Kaleńsko, Stare Kaleńsko, Wrzoski and Siemczyno. This means Stare Kaleńsko lies on a circular route that starts and finishes in Złocieniec. Check current trail conditions before setting off.

A paved route from Żelisławie also runs through Stare Kaleńsko; the green and black cycling routes follow it. This means the village can also be considered a section of a route coming from Żelisławie. Current trail conditions are also a useful basis for planning a ride along this route.

Circular routes in the wider area

In the wider region, two circular routes start and finish at the market square in Czaplinek: the black “Lobeliowe jeziora” cycling route is 33.3 km long, and the green “Dobrzyca” cycling route is 45.1 km. With the same starting and finishing point, the two routes differ in length by 11.8 km. You can use the stated distances to compare the two circuits directly.

Another option is the approximately 46 km, unmarked walking and cycling route around Lake Drawsko. It combines existing walking and cycling paths and runs from Czaplinek via Kołomąt, Stare Drawsko, Kuźnica Drawska, Kluczewo, Bolegorzyn, Warniłęg, Rzepowo, Głęboczek, Siemczyno, Żelisławie and Stare Kaleńsko, before returning to Czaplinek. The route connects several stops; its approximate length and unmarked course are important points to bear in mind when planning.

Routes and scenery along the way

On the paved route from Żelisławie, the path passes through Stare Kaleńsko and by the holiday centre. After about 4 km, you reach a railway crossing; beyond it, Lake Krzemno, known for its lobelias, can be seen on the left. This describes a view of the lake from the route, not a detour to a path along the shore. If you are interested in reaching the Głaz Graniczny erratic boulder, a route note from February 2026 describes a route from Czaplinek via the black “Lobeliowe Jeziora” cycling route; a signposted path branches off the route and leads 70 m to the boulder. Check the signs on site.
