Dębno: Lake Lipowo, hiking trails and city history
Accommodation in Dębno
Dębno offers several ways to shape your trip to Poland: Lake Lipowo within the city, trails around and through the city, and buildings with historical significance. You can tailor your plans to what interests you most locally—enjoy activities on the water, explore the surrounding area on foot, or learn about architecture and city history.
Lake Lipowo: city park and water sports
Lake Lipowo lies within the city limits and is surrounded by a city park. There is a beach and water sports equipment rental at the lake. In summer, the wake park is also open. For the 2026 swimming season, the city beach offers water sports equipment and a wakeboard lift. This makes the lake a specific destination for days when you want to experience Dębno from the water or include water sports in your travel plans. The lake and the surrounding park also give this part of the city its own distinctive landscape.
City history and architecture
A glimpse into Dębno’s architectural history can be found at 4 Armii Krajowej Street: the tenement building was constructed in 1891–1892 as the residence of printer Julius Neumann. The connection between the residence and the printer makes the building a tangible testament to the city’s history in the late 19th century. The Church of St. Peter and Paul is another notable building. It is one of the relatively few monumental religious buildings dating from the mid-19th century in the West Pomeranian region. If you would like to combine your stay with architecture as well as outdoor activities, these two buildings offer different historical points of interest.
Hiking trails with different highlights
The red “Wokół Dębna” hiking trail loops around the city and takes in places in the surrounding area. The blue “Historii i zabytków” trail runs through the city and includes its most interesting places. The two routes therefore have different focuses: one loops around Dębno, while the other passes through places in the city. The yellow “Nad rzeką Kosą” trail starts in Dębno and heads north to Barnówko. For a shorter route, there is also the “Kapliczka Św. Huberta” loop in the Dzicze area near Dębno. This information can help you plan your hike according to whether you’re looking for a loop, a route through the city, a trail heading north, or a short circuit.
Cycling and planning your visit
For a longer bike ride, Blue Velo Stage VII runs from Dębno to Kostrzyn nad Odrą. The stage is 30 kilometers long and runs mostly along local roads with light traffic. The distance and the route description give you a specific reference point if you would like to include a bike ride in your trip.
Dębno’s tourist information office is located in the public library at 32 Mickiewicz Street. Guidebooks, plans, and tourist maps are sold there—useful resources for planning your activities.
