Żukowo: Hotels and Accommodations

The townscape of Żukowo preserves a clearly recognisable medieval oval village church layout, with continuous development around an inner square. Żukowo was first mentioned in writing in 1237.

Culture and History

At the time of Żukowo’s first written mention, the knightly de Suckow family, which was associated with the Order of St John, was based there. The church “Kościół filialny pw. św. Antoniego” preserves Gothic pointed-arch portals and windows; the former churchyard is enclosed by a stone wall. The church also contains altar components dating from around 1500 and from 1715.

About half of the historic farmsteads in Żukowo have been preserved. The surviving buildings also include a forge dating from the early 20th century, situated by a pond on the western outskirts of the village.

Nature

Żukowo lies on the edge of the Ina Valley, about 1 km from the river and parallel to its course. The village is surrounded by meadows and agricultural fields. The “Niebieski korytarz ekologiczny koryta rzeki Iny i jej dopływów – V” is considered a habitat for and site of rare or protected species.

Activities

The “Szlak Dziedzictwa Historyczno-Przyrodniczego” runs through Żukowo, among other places. Żukowo has a stud farm with an indoor riding arena that also enables riding in winter.

The Jeździecki Klub Sportowy “Remi” is registered at the address Żukowo 31. At Agro Pomerania 2024 in Barzkowice, the Jeździecki Klub Sportowy REMI Żukowo, together with ZODR, co-organised equestrian competitions.
