Łubowo (Lubowo) lies on Lake Lubicko Wielkie and on the edge of Drawa Landscape Park. Water and its location on the edge of the park therefore shape the setting of the town. When choosing a place to stay in Poland, three themes stand out here: the large lake, a named kayak route and the historic townscape. You can assess Lubowo based on whether you are more interested in lake and forest landscapes, a connection to water sports or a cultural highlight.

Lake, Waterway and Autumn

Lake Lubicko Wielkie covers an area of more than 260 hectares. It is rich in fish, has a beech-covered island and is considered a recreational destination for anglers. The lake’s area, island and appeal to anglers are distinct features: its size shapes the landscape, while the beech-covered island provides a natural highlight of its own. This also makes it possible to appreciate Lubowo for its special connection to Lake Lubicko Wielkie.

Another connection to the water is Graty beach near Łubowo. It is often a stopover for groups of kayakers on the Karol Wojtyła Waterway. This sets it apart from the lake’s appeal to anglers: at Graty, the focus is on groups following a named waterway, while Lake Lubicko Wielkie is associated with its lakeside landscape and fishing. This gives your travel planning a clear distinction between a tour-related setting and the character of the lake.

The time of year also brings its own emphasis. The forests around Lubowo are associated with mushroom picking in autumn. The lake is a permanent feature of the local landscape, while mushroom picking is a seasonal nature activity. So if you assess destinations by season, these offer both a lasting connection to the landscape and an activity explicitly associated with autumn.

Parish Church and Local History

The parish church pw. Wniebowzięcia Najświętszej Marii Panny in Łubowo was built in 1834–1835 and is considered Neo-Romanesque and Neoclassical. These two style labels provide a specific architectural classification of the building. Alongside its lake, forest and waterway, Lubowo therefore also has a single historic building as a cultural focal point.

The church and its surroundings are listed as a protected monument under registration number A-61; the entry dates from 10 April 2001. The construction period and the date of listing refer to two different milestones: the years 1834–1835 refer to when the church was built, while 2001 refers to its monument listing. The listing expressly includes the surrounding area as well.

Locating Lubowo on the Map

For road navigation, Lubowo is on National Road 20, along the Szczecinek–Czaplinek route. This places the town along a named road connection and adds a clear road-network reference to its landscape and cultural features. When choosing a destination, you can consider its location and the main features of a stay separately: the road provides the geographical framework, while the lake, kayak route, autumn forests and church shape the town’s different themes.

Lake Lubicko Wielkie represents a vast lakeside landscape with an appeal to anglers, while Graty is associated with the Karol Wojtyła Waterway. The parish church brings history and heritage protection into the townscape; the forests add an autumnal element. This makes it possible to assess Lubowo based on which feature you want to define your stay in Poland.
