Lake Raduń and the waterside trails

At 229 ha, Lake Raduń is the largest body of water within Wałcz’s administrative boundaries. Wałecka Aleja Gwiazd is a lakeside promenade route in the eastern part of the city. It runs along the lake and begins near the Miejski Ośrodek Sportu i Rekreacji. Metal plaques in the pavement are each dedicated to a different athlete. The Szlak wałeckich zabytków also runs along the shore and then continues to Aleja Gwiazd. This lets you combine the lakeshore with a route through the city, though the two paths do not have to follow the same course.

The Kłosowski Bridge, also known as the suspension bridge, is for pedestrians only and connects the two shores of Lake Raduń. Kayaks, boats and pedal boats are available to rent at the Miejski Ośrodek Sportu i Rekreacji. As availability can change, check before your visit whether rentals are available then. The lake has rowing and canoe racing courses, with associated facilities, at the level of COS OPO; competitions are held there.

Choose routes by length and activity

Two trails of different lengths offer a way to compare shorter routes: the green Wałcz–Czapla–Wiesiółka trail is 12 km long, and the black Wałcz–Kłębowiec trail is 7 km long. The latter passes through Pluskota and Rudnica. If you are looking for a longer cycling route, consider the 40 km Trasa Grupy Warownej Cegielnia. It is marked with name signs and goes via Kołatnik, Pluskota, Nakielno, Strączno, Chwiram and Wałcz before returning to Kołatnik.

Several hiking trails are also described with specific distances and destinations. A 6 km trail runs between Wałcz, Pluskota and Kołatnik, beginning and ending in Wałcz. A 13.7 km route starts at Wałcz PKS bus station and passes allotment gardens, a bridge over the Dobrzyca and Lake Łubianka before reaching the ZHP base and continuing to Ostrowiec PKS bus station. Another hiking trail connects Ostrowiec with the Leśniczówka Wałcz forester’s lodge; it is 4 km long. The distances help you gauge the scale of each route, while the respective destinations show how their courses differ.

For cycling, the 40 km Trasa Grupy Warownej Cegielnia is another option. If you would rather get out on the water in the surrounding area, canoeing routes are available on the Dobrzyca, Piława and Rurzyca rivers. They are located close to Wałcz.

History, technology and city visits

The Szlak wałeckich zabytków ends with a visit to the open-air museum Grupa Warowna Cegielnia. The Trasa Grupy Warownej Cegielnia also leads to this open-air museum in Wałcz, where a visit break is planned. The Muzeum Ziemi Wałeckiej is in the city centre, at the intersection of Pocztowa and Orla streets, where the Orla Peninsula begins on Lake Zamkowe. Another trace of history is the Pomeranian Wall fortification line, which runs through Wałcz along the shore of Lake Raduń.

At the “Metalowe Inspiracje” Local Science Centre, visitors can use a flight simulator and driving simulators for cars, forklifts and excavators. There is an educational play area for younger visitors. Practical courses in physics and chemistry, IT, renewable energy and LEGO construction are also planned, as is a simulator lab featuring elements of robotics, mechanics and technology. Alongside the trails by the lake, technology and science are therefore other possible interests for your trip.

COS OPO Bukowina is located at the exit from Wałcz towards Gorzów Wielkopolski, in a wooded area covered with beech trees. In the surrounding area, you can therefore find both the lake and its routes, as well as a stretch of wooded landscape.
