Sugajno: Lake, Village and History

Sugajno combines a clear geographical reference with a local history that can be told using specific dates. Lake Sugajno lies west of the village. Sugajno is also home to an archaeological site classified as an early medieval settlement; its founding under Kulm law is dated to July 21, 1310. Another point of reference dates to 1596: an inn already operating in Sugajno was permitted to brew and sell beer. The two historical records differ: the rights granted to Grzegorz at the time of the 1310 founding, and the brewing and sales rights granted to an inn that was already operating in 1596.

A Structure Dating from 1945

Next to House No. 21 is a structure dating from 1945 that was later remodeled. It complements the archaeological site and medieval legal records with a more recent architectural point of reference. The year it was built and the later remodeling provide two specific dates; its location next to House No. 21 places it within the village.

Connection to Sugajenko

A municipal road connects Sugajno with Sugajenko. The renovated section between the two places is 999 meters long and has a 4.5-meter-wide asphalt roadway with passing places. The section opened in November 2022. The investment shortened driving distances to nearby settlements. Two aspects should be distinguished: the road directly connects Sugajno with Sugajenko, while the shorter driving distances concern nearby places. For travelers by car, this connection is another concrete point of reference when choosing a destination, alongside the lake.
