Strzelewo offers nature and history on a compact thematic scale: an old, protected oak tree, a neo-Gothic castle with a complex history of construction, and traces from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. There is also a green-marked cycling route that passes through Strzelewo and other places in the municipality of Sicienko. If you are looking for a hotel in Strzelewo, these different points of interest can help you choose your destination: would you like to learn about natural monuments and park trees, understand historical phases of construction, or include a circular route in your plans?

An old oak tree as a natural monument

An oak tree around 200 years old grows in a forest managed by Leśnictwo Kruszyn. It is 18 metres tall, its crown is 17 metres wide, and its trunk circumference at breast height is 340 centimetres. The oak is listed in the register of natural monuments. Its age, height and circumference give the tree a distinctive profile: rather than describing nature in Strzelewo only in general terms, this individual tree shows what makes it stand out.

The management of the forest is also useful to know: Leśnictwo Kruszyn is based in Zielonczyn. Kruszyn and Zielonczyn also feature in connection with the cycling route. The place names therefore appear in different contexts, without implying anything about distances or a connection between individual places to visit.

The castle and park through the years

The neo-Gothic castle in Strzelewo was built in 1868, extended in 1910, and remodelled in 1968–1969. During this remodelling, it lost its stylistic features. The three dates mark different phases in the building's history; in particular, the later remodelling explains why its original style was not preserved. The castle can therefore be viewed both in terms of its neo-Gothic origins and the changes made in the 20th century.

The castle has a park with horse chestnuts, Norway maples, European beeches and black locusts. A spreading copper beech is particularly striking. The tree species create a different picture of nature from the single oak in the forest: several kinds of trees shape the park, while the oak stands out for its dimensions and status as a natural monument. If you are choosing Strzelewo for its nature and cultural themes, these are two distinct points of interest that can be considered side by side.

Historical traces in the village

An Evangelical cemetery dating from around the turn of the 20th century lies on the slope beside the road from Strzelewo to Ugoda. It covers 0.07 hectares and is completely overgrown with lilac; no gravestones remain. Its historical period and present-day vegetation shape the description of this place, while surviving gravestones are not part of the picture.

Strzelewo is also home to a roadside shrine classified as historic and a historic distillery. These two places add further historical connections to the castle's history. Together with the cemetery, they show that the village's history is not limited to a single building or era. They are different subjects to consider when exploring Strzelewo as you plan your trip; this does not imply anything about current use or access.

A green-marked circular route

The green-marked nature trail and cycling route forms a loop through places in the central and southern parts of the municipality of Sicienko, including Strzelewo. In Strzelewo, the route crosses National Road 10. It then leads to the Kruszyn Nature Reserve and, along a field road, to the forester's lodge in Zielonczyn. These details describe specific stops and sections of the route, not walking or cycling times.

For planning purposes, the loop differs from the individual historic sites: it connects several places in the municipality as one tour, while the oak, castle park and historical traces each represent distinct themes in Strzelewo. Check the route locally before setting out, as its description was last updated in 2021. This allows you to treat the tour as a separate planning item alongside the nature and history themes that matter when choosing where to stay.
