Klucze combines the landscape of the Błędowska Desert with trails and the area’s architectural history. To the east, the desert stretches as far as Klucze; the Biała Przemsza valley divides the area. A distinctive landmark is Czubatka: the viewpoint is located in Klucze at 382 m above sea level. From there, you can see both the southern and northern parts of the desert. The northern section, on the Chechło side, is used for military purposes.

Czubatka and the Desert Landscape

The layout of the area is immediately clear from the viewpoint: you can see both parts of the Błędowska Desert from one place. Czubatka is therefore a good starting point if you want to take in the landscape first and then explore it along a trail. The yellow hiking trail leads from here to the desert and its tourist infrastructure, including viewing platforms, shelters and educational trails.

You can reach Czubatka on foot or by car via Rudnicka, Podgórna and Górna streets. Local signs can help you find your way; check them on site for current conditions. Róża Wiatrów is another named landmark in the nearby area: it lies in the southern part of the desert and can be reached via the signposted district road No. 1095 K between Klucze and Bolesław.

Hiking and Cycling Around Klucze

The trails differ in their routes and activities. The Żółty Szlak Pustynny (Yellow Desert Trail) passes over the 382 m-high Czubatka viewpoint hill and then through the built-up area of Klucze. Velo Pustynia is a completed hiking and cycling route around the Błędowska Desert; its connected viewpoints include Czubatka, which offers panoramic views of the desert. Cyclists can also take the blue Przylaszczkowy cycling trail: the 41 km circular route starts and ends in Klucze.

If you are choosing between hiking and cycling, you can decide based on the type of route you prefer: the Przylaszczkowy cycling trail is a 41 km loop, while the hiking trails lead over Czubatka, through the built-up area of Klucze or to the desert. Current signs can help you find your way along the routes.

Architecture and Local History

The Dietl Palace stands in the centre of Klucze. This eclectic building was constructed in the early 20th century in the Historicist style. It draws on the Italian Neo-Renaissance and combines it with elements of Swiss spa architecture. Remnants of a former park surround the building. Its varied architectural influences make the palace a distinctive part of the area’s history.

Klucze-Osada also offers a glimpse into the area’s architectural history: buildings from the 19th century stand there, dating from the time when the paper mill was built. They are listed as sights along the route. This refers to the buildings as points of interest along the way; it does not imply access to their interiors.

Klucze brings together views, trails and architectural history, making it an appealing destination. You can plan your visit around what interests you most: seeing the desert landscape from Czubatka, choosing a hiking or cycling route, or exploring the area’s architecture and history. The specific trail details and the named 41 km cycling loop offer different points of reference for planning your stay.
